That's interesting, Ron. I didn't get that email (at least not yet). I'd be interested in that one....I guess I'd better check back in the morning.

Anyone else having issues getting Estes website to process their order? Multiple time outs and other spinning circles with no end in site.
I’ve noticed the Estes website is iffy on any day, but the big sale days it’s ridiculously slow with errors, time outs, etc. I’ve heard the traffic volume is through the roof today.

My order went right through. Haven't flown a camera before... I got one a few years back, the one time that I went to fly it I couldn't get it to work. Hopefully the Estes camera will be somewhat less fiddly.

Got two of them, plus some A10-0Ts. The site was slow but all went through on the first try.

I have one of the current ones and have a couple of dozen flights on it. But having other options will be interesting. I'm really interested to see how well this universal holder works on models as small as an Alpha III, since they figure prominently in the advertising (along with the half-inch longer but otherwise identical rocket from the Rocket Science Starter Set).

I already have examples of all the models on sale that I am interested in, and in the case of the Multi-Roc and Super Nova, backup kits in hand.

PayPal refused to work but finally made the order with CC.

I lost my MultiRoc this morning. I got one good flight out of it.

Thanks for posting that, Ron. It looks like it actually works pretty well. He's certainly pushing it stuffing all that stuff into such small models.

I need to ask him what he's using for the data overlay on the in-flight video. I like what he has better than what I have been able to to with RaceRender. I suspect it's DashWare...which means he's had better luck with it than I did when I tried it.

Too bad about the Multi-Roc....

The new Estes Astrocam is really easy to use, and has decent video. First camera I've ever flown, and had no problems. I ordered 2.

I've been trying to ask Kevin but the only way I have to communicate with him is through YouTube. He was here briefly but don't remember his user name.

I ordered two strappy things. I would have preferred one Astrocam and one strapy thing. I almost added a Protostar, but after some slow page loading, I added some plastic Saturn V fins and nozzels instead.

Ron/BEC, this is Kevin from YT. I use RaceRender as well. I actually got the idea from seeing BEC’s previous videos.

I posted a thread last night on the Electronics & Software page about the AstroCam cameras. Overall, I really really like them, but their not impervious to malfunctioning. But, I do like them enough that I ordered a couple more yesterday as well.

Ron was right about simply taping the camera onto the side of the body tube. In fact, for smaller BT-20 tubes, that’s the better way to do it, as the mount is kinda bulky. The advantage to using the mount is that it cants the camera out at a slight angle so you see less body tube and more ground.

Got three myself. I didn't even try looking for rockets though as it took about 30+ mins of not giving up to get the camera order to work. I wasnt even going to try browsing!

Gateway timeouts. etc. I assumed Estes was fairly big, but they appear to need some IT help!

Looking forward seeing what I can do with these things

Ah, you must have ponied up for the full paid version ("ultimate") since I didn't see their logo at all. What other features of that version did you like better? Certainly you have some nicer indications including the apogee reading that either I can't do or haven't yet figured out how to do.

Since I got more cameras and I generally fly the FlightSketch altimeters anyway, I'll be in the mode to make some more in-flight video with overlaid data graphics again in the not-too-distant future.
