My understanding is that the catalog will be relesed in 'early' January.

Horrible, horrible company for not having the 2022 catalog out on Saturday, January 1, 2022. This lack of respect to the customer has caused them to lose my business for at least three minutes.

Just kidding. You must chill, just because it's now officially the new year doesn't mean that the catalog will be top priority. There's this new "internet" thing that probably nets them more business than the catalog and probably takes priority.

If I was a gambling man, I would bet that a Venn diagram of people who want the Estes catalog, new customers, and long-time customers would have very little overlap on the new customer/people who want catalogs area.

Seven years as a BAR, and the first thing that sees the Estes catalogs I get with orders is the inside of the recycling bin.

Looks like the B.O.S.S. and Super Orbital Transport will be making their way to my shelf this year. Best get the build pile cleaned up a bit so there's room.
The B.O.S.S. for sure but all I’ve done with my on-hand standard Orbital Transport is open the bag and check out the parts…what the heck, it’s not like I can’t have two sizes of the same rocket 😂

All I see that's new in the catalog are the B.O.S.S, Super Orbital Transport, and builder's kit of the New Shepard. Meh. Also most of the rocket pics are side views, which isn't great. Good to see the return of full info on each rocket, though (diameter, etc.)

Cool, I wasn't sure if eRockets got beaten to the punch... looks like the answer is "sort of."

Looks like the Super version from Estes is going to be BT-55 with 24mm motor mount.
eRockets showed it at NARAM in Indiana along with their improved standard version with multiple decal options and assembly fixtures - the one I have is a McLawhorn Semroc kit.

Some of the prices are really confusing to me - why does an Alpha III cost $24 but the Athena is $15? Slightly different nose cone, Athena has a longer body tube, same fin can. Generic E2X $24, Mongoose $18, similar differences but you get another stage and plastic fin can with the Mongoose! Makes no sense to me.

Mine is from the early 2000's Estes release, and I built it in high school. I remember the thing that shocked me about it was that it actually came with a pair of blank balsa planks that you had to trace cutout paper patterns on to cut out all the wood parts. I went through a couple of knife blades doing it, but I must have done a decent job because it still flies 1-2 times a year to this day.

Prices are, typically, driven by what folks will pay rather than on what it costs for the OEM to make 😉

The Star Orbiter in next year's catalog has different fins. Could be that someone just screwed up the artwork?

That’s the fin shape from SO’s Hobby Lobby exclusive sister ship the Vapor - hopefully this is just some kind of standardization and the SO retains its TTW construction unlike the Vapor’s surface mount fins.

Wow, good pick up. That Generic MSRP represents an 85% price increase catalog to catalog. Foil decal supply chain. But the Mongoose should sell twice as many motors, at least until I lose the booster.

After going through the catalog a bit closer I’m disappointed there’s no C5-0 booster motor - maybe it’ll be a mid-year add to the lineup.

Agreed - that's my real concern, that the real SO is gone and replaced by the Vapor with SO decals (though, apparently still with a 29mm mount)?

That would make the parasitic glider BT-50, yes? Now, can I get it to glide with an Astrocam nosecone swap?
