When TV was furniture, not a device. And you had to get up to change the channels (probably saved a few people's lives). And you had to be home to watch your favorite show, or else wait six months for reruns. And the whole family could enjoy the same programming.


My Grandfather was the local TV repairman (back when TV's could be repaired) and he amassed quite a bit of junk. After he passed (in the early 80's) we cleaned out his work shop, there were at least three of these monstrosities buried in there. Of course none of them worked and had been almost completely cannibalized for the vacuum tubes. The best one had a 21" screen, 8 track deck a radio with FM, AM, SW1 and SW2, along with a three speed turntable.
