I always thought it was a knock on the head.
Yeah, it's just a moderate hit, often cranial, as in "a bonk on the head". More than a bump, less than a clonk. (Originally a portmanteau? Dunno.)I always thought it was a knock on the head.
All about context. It means that too. Which can make the quoted example above into a double entendre.I guess 'bonked' means something different in the US... If I had bonked hard I'd be pretty pleased.

Actually, I thought you meant you had another, but minor, collision. This is the first I've heard of the cycling-specific meaning. I feel sure that comes from the more general meaning of a mild impact. "I really hit the wall - Bonk!"You can tell that is how I meant it...
We were out of cat treats and ice cream.
I love doing the grocery shopping, did it this morning like I've done almost every week for my 39 (40 next week) years of marriage. Way back when cash was tight, it meant I could spend money and not feel guilty about it. And I'm much better than SWMBO about knowing general prices and sales. This week's bill was just over $80; Geniece will always spend over $100.Took the recycling in. Went into Walmart for bird seed. Ended up with seed and 2 cans of white paint. Then to the grocery store. I don't mind going. I've been doing since I got married. 39 years ago. I stopped looking at prices of things years ago. It was depressing. Just tell me what I owe at the end. Besides I had to go to the store. We were out of cat treats and ice cream. Everybody is happy.
I have a story about my nephew. He was 4 or 5 at the time and was shopping with my sister, his mom. He was very good about not asking for candy most of the time as well. One time, he reaches for a candy bar and grabs 2 and with his saddest looking puppy-dog eyes looks up at my sister, extends his arm with one of the candy bars and says "here mommy, this one is for you" That boy knew how to pull on a mom's heartstrings when he wanted to.I took my daughters along as soon as they could sit upright in the cart seat. That may be why, when they got a bit older, they never squalled for the candy at the checkout, or for anything else for that matter. Not once.
Someone had gone crazy with fraudulent charge
