One year after my first attempts and failures (see Rest In Pieces post #54), I successfully completed my NAR HPR Level 1 Certification on 7/10/21.
I built a LOC IV for this attempt. I did not final the paint and just went with primer.
Single Stage and Aerotech H73J with 8 second delay to approx. 1,400ft.
I added 2oz of clay to the nose for stability and went with a NOMEX chute protector.

Now to work on using my Jolly Logic chute release and future dual deployment setup experience before I even think about Level 2.

Was a great flight. Haven’t seen an H73 burned in some time. Cool to see the old school black jack

Had a good time chatting it up with you between flights. Hope to see you out there again in September!

Congratulations! Based on context clues, I'm guessing this was with NOVAAR at The Plains near Culpeper? If so, how do you like launching there? It seems decently open based on your photos, minus the occasional random tree.

Yes. The NOVAAR launch at Great Meadows Foundation. The launch site is great and a reasonable distance for someone wanting to launch up to J motors. The site is great unless the wind catches your rocket and you have to go into the trees or other fields for it. Great Meadows is essentially a dressage arena with multiple fields but it's proximity to Dulles still means 4,500ft ceiling.

Question for those in the know. How long does it take NAR usually to update records? I did the email method to send in my form about 2.5 weeks ago and nothing. Should I have at least received an acknowledgement of receipt?

Double check that you sent the email to [email protected]. Marie is the only paid employee, and she handles all the administrative duties, so these take time. For my L2 this past February, it took a week to get an email back. It’s also possible she forgot to email you. You can check your account on the NAR website to see if your cert level has been updated.

Meantime, you can use the slip at the bottom of the cert form as proof of certification. Congratulations!

Congrats on your L1. They usually don’t acknowledge receipt. It can take 4-6 weeks to receive an update to records. It’s a part time volunteer job. NAR is all about patience.

Thanks. Working in customer support myself I just wasn't sure if I should have received an automated reply that my email was received by the general box, etc..

Congrats on your L1 - I've been waiting for update/card since May - Not complaining, mind you, but 2.5 weeks is nothing
