Replaced a couple of pailings on our side fence. A delivery driver taking stuff to the neighbour forgot to close his door when backing out. Luckily I had some in the wood store so it was fixed very quickly, unlike the delivery driver's van :). He couldn't even close his door properly.
 
Florida is lousy with water moccasins and all kinds of snakes in general. I could never under stand why people used to water ski in the lakes. Water moccasins and alligators. We called fishing for alligators. I've heard story's of people falling into a ball of snakes mating in the water. You don't survive being bitten by a hundred snakes.

Yeah, I've done a few I hope no one ever sees.

As for drywall anchors, I love these, and the depth doesn't matter. They've gotten me out of a few spots.

I feel your pain. Thought I would replace an old light fixture with a new one. Simple remove/replace right? Found out that on some older houses the box is not recessed behind the ceiling but surface mounted. Wound up having to buy a medallion to make up the depth difference. Not expensive or hard to install but unexpected. Looks good though.

I was replacing an old light fixture in a friend's house with a new ceiling fan. The house is quite old, and the plaster around the ceiling opening kept cracking at the slightest touch. So I bought them a PU foam medallion to cover up the nasty plaster edge. It had to around the fan's shroud, not under (well, above) it; I don't remember why. So I cut the hole larger with my trusty pocket knife.

And that's not the part I hope no one ever sees.

Those are basically the style I ended up with, although a slightly shallower variety that was barely thicker than the drywall.

Let me tell you about when I needed to unscrew the fourth one, and the whole anchor pulled out... leaving one corner completely unanchored, and me afraid to try to unscrew any of the others for fear of the same thing happening. Actually, let me *not* tell you about that...
 
I had a nozzle break inside the hot end of a 3 D printer when I was attempting to replace it. Thought I was screwed until I remembered I had a set of these. Little one worked like a champ. Barely ever need these, but boy when you do they are invaluable.

Picked about 10 pounds of plums, gave away an equal number to the neighbors to can. We have about 30 lbs in the basement and another 20 or so lbs on the tree.
 
didn"t know why I had been feeling so terrible the last week until we discovered that my narcotic pain patch was missing. Then we remembered that I found something that looked like a marijuana joint rolled up on the bed and had no idea that it was the pain patch that had been rolled off my arm, so basically I was going into narcotics withdrawal.

I've started smoking Chuck roasts as well. It comes out similar to brisket while being able to smoke a smaller and cheaper cut. Perfect for our family of 3, especially on days when I can't watch a smoker for 16-18 hours.

If you remember my replacing the ballast in the laundry room light fixture. Well yesterday I walked thru there and the bulbs were both dim. I thought oh no not again. I took a chance that one of the bulbs was shot and the first one I replaced did the trick. Got lucky twice with that fixture.

I've been there. Was on 100mg Oxycodone per day for my back for 18 months. I could barley walk without them. Finally got my back worked on and didn't need them any more. The Doc started weening me off them but my body wasn't happy. After 3 months she stopped them completely. Within a day I stated going into withdrawal. I had 3 days of agony. Then a week of depression and pain. After a couple of weeks I was ok. I never want to do that again.
 
It's so stinking hot and muggy here, I've taken 4 cold showers today... On a plus, I moved my fan so that I'm being cooled much more efficiently. That's about all the energy I have for doing anything today.
 
Watched a large thunderstorm blow through. A lot of cloud to cloud lighting. At one point the bolts were hitting within a mile. I think the middle of town got a big hit. One of the close ones was the loudest thunder I've heard in a long time. We call these types of storms gully washers. I'll bet there is flooding everywhere. This valleys get flooded because all the rain that falls in the mountains goes down hill fast. The town will be flooded because it's closer to the mountains, I've seen large rocks in the roads after one of these. The real bad thing is when the rain gets into the culverts where some of the homeless stay and there are a number of deaths. In Vegas there will be car surfing. That happens when someone tries to cross a flooded street and gets swept away. As the car is sinking the people inside climb up on their roof and to keep their balance by holding their arms out sideways. Looks just like a surfer. The fire dept will be busy with swift water rescues. At one point I measured the wind speed. It was blowing 30 mph steady with gusts much higher. I was afraid we would lose some trees. The temperature dropped 30 degrees from the 90's to 69 now. So an hour of entertainment and it's clean up the mess.
 
Some more. It's 69 degrees now with 86% humidity. 2 hours ago it was 91 and 20% humidity. Except for the puddles mu drive way is dry. According to my weather station we got .48 of a inch of rain. We average 4"a year.
