Since we have a "What are you reading thread, I thought I'd start one about, well the title says it all.

We all know about "Firefly" and its dismal demise on Fox but it was certainly not the only good show that got axed in its first season.
So what other "One Season Wonders" have you watched and and wished it had gone on for more?

My three would be; "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr"('93) "Wonderfalls"('04) and the very obscure "The Middleman"('08)
If you can find that last one anywhere, give it a try, I think most people on this forum would enjoy it.

Earth 2

What about shows intended to only be a one-season mini-series? Then:

Chernobyl
The Night Manager
Pine Gap

Whiskey Cavalier - lots of cool Euro locations.

I really enjoyed Action on Fox in the late 90's. It was originally produced for HBO so was edgier than most sitcoms of the time and included a lot of bleeping for language. I had to buy the DVD set to see all of the episodes as it got axed part way through its one season.

If you can find it, there is a good article about what the network wanted to do with this show in the second season and it was puke-inducing.
The rumors are that the producers/creators of the show killed it rather than let "Earth 2" go down that road.

Space Rangers (from 1993)

As apposed to "Rocky Jones; Space Ranger" from the mid '50's?

The Fifth Corner
John Doe
Stingray
Mercy Point
Almost Human

Moonlight
New Amsterdam (the one with the immortal, not the hospital)
Forever
Limitless
Battlestar Galactica (the real one)
Alien Nation
Police Squad

Police Squad

I've always wondered how long "Police Squad" could have lasted before it simply "Ran out of funny".

I got to read a synopsis of the 2nd season plans for "UFO".
It was going to go to some dark and interesting places; one such was that S.H.A.D.O. had sent a flight of Thermonuclear armed drones, yes, way ahead of its time on that one, to the Aliens home system with the intent of nuking their space-bourn military bases so as to stop the attacks on Earth.

Only it turns out that the Aliens all lived aboard massive O'Neil colonies from whence they launched their attacks and nuking their "military bases" meant nuking their only population centers.
Now what do you do?

Anybody ever seen "Death Valley"?

Not "Death Valley Days" or any of the numerus movies with that title, this was a 2011 "Mockumentery" which was Caity Lotz's first recurring role in a series.
only 12 episodes and I have never found it on DVD that it wasn't stupidly expensive.

Interesting.

I would have preferred storylines about the Aliens are already on Earth and manipulating society to achieve their objective(s).
