As you know, there is much more posted on YORF. I saw this stuff at Iowa State University. They used it in a student aerospace lab 1975ish. They were unreliable and most of the rockets had prang damage, I think for our lab, they just blasted a wooden round out of the launch tube. It is not new, nor a good scale modeling subject.

Yes, I know, as I am the one who posted it there . . . It IS a NEW subject, suited for Sport Scale . . . If not, show me where data previously exists, prior to my posting.

I saw your posts on YORF, and I thought it was odd that you did did not reference that above, but as I reviewed it prior to this response, I see that there is a link to your YORF posts. My mistake, sorry. I have not responded on YORF for many years due to password issues, so thanks for bringing it to TRF.

Your subject post is new. I meant the the Cricket rocket is old and not unknown.

I also stated the Cricket was unreliable. My opinion is biased by my limited exposure to it. It may have suffered badly at the hands of previous students and occasional users. I do not know how reliable or widely used it was in the hands of professional meteorologists.

I also opined that the Cricket was not a good scale modeling subject. Anything that piques your interest enough to build a model is a good enough subject. I had some interest in it back in the day. I had flown the Estes cold power rocket, and even some water rockets. The Cricket is like a higher performance variant. It might even be interesting to scale it down and cheapen it to become a Class 1 demonstration rocket. As a scale contest model, you really need something with more difficulty, colors, and markings, etc.

Where is all of this NAR Precision Scale being flown ? There are only a handful of Sections flying any meaningful competition, nationwide, and they usually fly Sport Scale . . . NARAM is the only REAL venue for Precision Scale, anymore.
