I have an unknown CTI 38mm 5 grain propellent kit, I weighed the grains minus the pyrodex pellet and came up with 362.36 grams. Im wondering if the cardboard sleeves are included in the propellant mass figure and if the case itself is included in the total mass figure. The reload kit looks to be in good shape otherwise and has been stored in a sealed tote. Can anyone offer some advice on what to do with this mystery motor?

None of the motors match exactly the weights I measured.

There is also this red looking goo on the outside of the top two grains, maybe this is the red sealant that in the delay/ejection closure?

Hard to tell from the pics, but looks like it might be an old Red Lightning motor. Can you measure the nozzle throat? Maybe scrape off the propellant from the outside of the grains and burn it to see if there's any colour.

I will do that when I get home.

I thought we determined this was an I-297? Those are definitely skidmark grains.

I should have figured that the other social media group would cross over here, just wanted some more opinions is all. My 4" PML AMRAAM is stable on any of them anyways.

I withdraw my assessment. It's been too long since I burned a Skidmark or a Cesaroni red.

I like the "burn a scraping" idea.
