What is the length on the motor tubing? (54mm version)
The 54mm Monster Motors Case I have is 15" in length, I believe is a 4 grain case with inserts to allow
use of fewer grains...
I'm hoping to be able to use that case in my build for a Level 2 Cert attempt next Spring.

regards,
JP Morgan

Hey! Just saw your IM but good to mention here too, the motor tube on mine was 14", but no harm in having a casing extend past that!

Thanks!!! That's good to know! It's been a while since I've had my head wrapped around rocketry so I wasn't for certain about the casing being longer than the motor tubing thing.

I've got a J & a K motor but they're probably too old now... I guess I'll burn each grain one at a time down on the beach one night.

I'm fixing to place my Order for the LOC Precision Warlock!
I'll glass it like you did for longevity. And those that are familiar with my work will know that a Tail-Cone is In Order!

How old do you consider too old? Plenty of rocket motors, properly stored, last quite some time. Just this year alone I've loaded/launched 38s and 54s from CTI and AT that were in the 6 year old range, no issues and lit first try.

I'll have to go look at the K motor, 4 grain, but I believe the J460T motor, 2 grain was manufactured in 1996.
ADDED: The K550W-L is around 2015, both motors are made by AT.

Ha, that's a candidate for listing for sale as 'vintage'.

List it as 'collector' and throw in 'limited edition' somewhere in the description and make sure to put an absolutely ABSURD price tag on it, and just sit back and wait.......:)

I’m sure you already know this but be sure to sim the Warlock with the tail cone. Base drag is part of what makes rockets like the Warlock stable. Be sure to post pictures - it should look good with a tail!

10-4!

2015 = 5 years old... that's new stock

Flew an I125 dated 1990 at the November launch, no problems whatsoever.

no worries at all, load em up and fly the Warlock,

Could you Run a Simulation using the AT K550W-L? It's a 54/1706...
I had Open Rocket on a PC at my other home but now all I have is my cell phone in the window
because I live in a metal building and currently using a Chromebook.

I downloaded Open Rocket but afterwards it showed that the Chromebook needs a different
something to open the File...

Sometimes I ask myself why do I pursue a Hobby that's a little difficult!!! And the Rules a little Anal.

See below according to OpenRock, and this is with 12ounces in the nose and 0.4cals (i flew the k535 at the .4 mark and was PERFECT straight)

Next flight im thinking this bird needs to burn a K456DM in my 1706 case :)

Many thanks for the Simulation!!!

For now I'm thinking I'll get my old PC from the other home, see if it will Turn-Over
and Update the Open Rocket files.

As mentioned before trying to open the Files for Open Rocket on this Chromebook didn't
workout...

Cool paint job! I built a Warlock a few years ago - fiber glassed the body tube and did tip-to-tip on the fins. I called mine "Zombie Apocalypse".

It has flown a bunch of times, biggest motor so far is a J350. Without dual deploy, you don't want to use much bigger down here in Florida with our high trees......

Nice! Looks great! I just flew mine today on a K456dm, was super awesome

I love the warlock, and this is a great looking one . . . hope to get one myself some day . . .

Was that just wood glue on the fillets? With the way you built the fin can outside the rocket, the fillets are probably just cosmetic, but wanted to ask.

Stellar video!

Thanks!

Thank you! It’s a fun bird, be neat to make a 75mm version one day lol.

I used bsi 30min epoxy and a little bit of micro balloons to keep it from running
