It's been 6 years since V15.0.3 was released. I see lots of emails on the lists about issues and I have a copy of a beta version 17.11-rc2.1 from 2018. At the minimum there are lots of AeroTech motors that have been approved that aren't in the database. It would be great to have an updated file that could be loaded in so they are able to be used for flight simulations. Is there active work being done on an updated version? Do you need testers? Any updates by the people working on this fantastic software would be very much appreciated.

It is being worked on. It is going much more slowly than we would like, simply due to limited manpower on the coding side.

The current builds are pretty usable, and have an updated motor library. If you can get set up with Java 9 or 11 on your machine I can get you a jar file. Unfortunately we don't have a packaged installer yet for the new version.

Note that the old version requires Java 8, so you'll need to maintain two JVMs on your machine to be able to run both, or else use the packaged installer for the old version and run the new version on the system JVM.

Note also that files saved in the new version are not fully readable in the old version, so you can't really go back and forth.

PM me if interested.

Can't you just put the current aerotech.eng file into the OpenRocket folder?

For example, I placed the Aerotech.eng and Quest 7-21-2018.eng in:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\OpenRocket\ThrustCurves

AppData is usually a hidden system folder on Win 10 so you have to change your settings to show hidden system folders. You can place ANY .eng file in this folder and OpenRocket will see it HTH

I also edited my Quest .eng to add the newer Q-Jets in them. I just copied the thrust time data from thrustcurve.org and pasted it into the .eng file following the layout pattern in the file. Or as the poster above said, use import.

I would generally recommend defining a location in Preferences that is easier to access, rather than using AppData.

Are you saying you put all the Quest motors into a single ENG file? What's the advantage of doing that rather than just putting the individual files into your ThrustCurves folder?

I don't know its an advantage. I already had the quest .eng file and I was experimenting by adding the .rasp entries into the Quest file .

I copied this into the Questxxxxx.eng file:

So how does one import or export a .rasp file into OR as an .eng file? At thrustcurve.org you supposedly can download the data file but I don't know how to do it.
You may already know this, but you can pull motor data from thrust curve and import into OR in the meantime.
how?

Both are available at Thrustcurve, and OR will accept either.
Sorry, I said that wrong.

RASP files are downloaded as .eng.
Rocksim files are downloaded .rse.

OR accepts either type of file.

So define an appropriate folder in Preferences, and just download files from Thruscurve straight into that folder, and then restart OR and they'll all be there.

Does anyone know of a way to get all of a specific motor manufacturers rasp files downloaded at one time? That would make it a lot easier to update the files in OR.
