I finished the oddroc and the Alien Probe. I used a USPS triangular box for the oddroc. It is 37" long, weighs 28 ounces with a chute and has a 29mm x 8" mmt. The nose cone I made out of a balsa sheet. There is a 2.2" BT down the center of the box. The Alien Probe which is supposed to look like a medical device is 74" long, weighs 38 ounces with chute and has a 38mm x 15" mmt. I tried to make the handle part look knurled. I wrapped a metal screen around it and put the top color on. Came out so so. Some of the screen lifted away from the tube so there isn't a continuous pattern. The nose cone I modified from a 3" balsa cone. It's a 2.6" BT into a 1.63 BT. It also has Lexan fins.

That's a very ceaative approach, and I'd say good results for a first try.

I'm afraid you're going to get a lot of jokes because it looks as much or more like a sex toy that starts with 'd' and ends with 'o' as it does like a medical device.

My wife said the same thing. But then she thinks that about a few of my rockets.

Whoa! Two totally different designs. They will bring attention to the field for sure. Nice going.
 
I repaired and a partial repaint of two of my rockets damaged this past year. I started the build of a 4" Crayon Bank Rocket. This one will be Blue.
 
Started working on my next build. My son loves dinosaurs, particularly the (Jurassic World) velociraptors. 3D printed parts: nose made from modified head of a model found on Thingiverse, legs/tail for find custom made in Fusion 360, and arms custom too. Need to mess with it in Rocksim to see how short I can make the tube (BT55) and keep it stable.

Also painted the conical fin ring and fins for my Mandalorian rocket. Swing test is up next for that one.

Well, Sunday/Monday evenings are generally rocket/hobby time, at least before daylight savings time kicks in. But Sunday was one of my granddaughters' birthday party. She got an Estes crayon rocket and motors, so that counts for this thread!

Last night we finished up my brother-in-law's V2 with a nice clear coat. During the week I corrected the tail art decal and had wet-sanded the mask borders of the paint. I'm really tickled with how this one came out.

For stability, you would do better taking length out of the middle that above. That moves the canards back at the same time you're losing length. And short body long neck would not be out of place for a velociraptor.

Finished glue filleting the 38mm and 54mm motor mounts and forward fincan CR for my 7.5" Door Knob Level Two build.

This rocket features both 38mm and 54mm removable motor mounts. It certainly give you more options. My LOC Goblin has 29mm/38mm as well . . . it seems like its a fairly common feature with some of LOC's larger models. My SBR Fusion had 29mm/38mm as well . . . the one I lost due to a mispacked parachute . . . I build both just in case one is better for what I want at the time . . .

Went out and flew after several months, ranged from A's to a G. First flight of the Mach 1 Star Cruiser, and 29mm Big Daddy. Only loss was an expected Hi-Flier. Also had my first lawn dart on an Loc Viper III. Heard the ejection charge but failed to push the nosecone out. 20210307_165157.jpg

Tested two red-flame ("Lucifer III") motors. First one burned beautifully but the data acquisition system didn't cooperate, so no data. I figured out the problem with the second one, but this time the motor didn't cooperate. Burnt a hole through the casing. Melted part of the forward closure---as well as the load cell. :( I said many words, none of which shall appear here.

At least the stand was made of steel so it's more or less intact. And I have four or five replacement load cells.
