I just checked it today...it went BACK to Memphis on March 3rd and left Memphis AGAIN. This makes it the SEVENTH trip between Saint Louis and Memphis since Feb 2nd. Sheesh. Just crazy.

We all know that delivery times are not guaranteed. That said, since this situation is so particularly egregious, you might try talking to a live person, stating the you understand that there's no guaranteed delivery but that this is different, and make sure you explain the back-and-forth as well as the overall time. They can look up the tracking information for themselves and see how stupid this situation is. Start at your local post office, and if that gets you nowhere, call the office of the Postmaster General at (800) 275-8777. And maybe that'll get a result.

I got a call on the 2nd from the post office that it is headed to before final delivery. She of course hasn't seen it yet as it keeps getting turned around in St Louis for some reason. She sees that it is stuck in a loop and is sending an email to get the package pulled from said loop, whatever that means. Apparently it didn't work as it seems it has now went back to Memphis.

It hasn't even arrived at her post office so WHY is she calling me? Yesterday I got a survey about the issue/inquiry, asking if I was satisfied with how the issue was resolved. Geez.

Similar situation some time back I ordered a revolver, 2 day priority. It sat at the origin post office in Colorado for 2 weeks. Initiated an inquiry and it was delivered 2 days later. Then my local post office calls apologizing...it wasn't even his fault. Seems like I've posted this before...lol

I ordered some electronic parts from Dallas (Garland). They went immediatly to the west coast of Florida. Dallas-to-OKC is ~200 miles, straight down the interstate. Do these people own a map?

🤪 Well, no wonder it hasn't made it to Indiana!

Sorry! Obviously, I didn't look at the list long enough to get shawn_rocket's state right.

How a bout this, since there's nothing but time- @shawn_rocket, do you have a flight planned yet?
I have not yet done a sim to decide what I'm going to fly in it. I will be doing that this weekend sometime. I won't be trying for any altitude records, but want to send it with some zip!!

The obvious solution is to organize a commando raid on the St Louis postal facility. Then once you have it back... put it in the mail to the next stop.
Murphy's Law dictates that when the team goes to St. Louis the package will be in Memphis or on the road in between.

It's a hub and spoke system, just like the airlines. Like changing planes in Chicago when flying from Boston to Western South Carolina (which I've done). As long as the package got to you in reasonable time, there's no point in questioning (or even examining) the route.

That's just it. Dallas (Coppell) IS a hub. No other package ordered from the same place has done this. I ordered on Feb. 20, shipped on 22nd. Pkg still "In Transit, Arriving Late".

Good news:
The Wanderer has broken free from the infinite loop.
Bad news:
It left Memphis, went to Dallas,TX to Shreveport, LA and departed Alexandria, LA this morning.
Alexandria is often the last stop before it is delivered here.

If I get a chance today I will make another attempt to talk to someone, though it is unlikely to do any good. Maybe they'll let me talk to someone in Dallas, or Seattle, for absolutely no reason.

Thinking it got "returned to sender"?

Looks to me like they are sending it back to sender. Maybe the address had something wrong. If not, UPS might be a better choice. Just sayin.

Yep, possibly. So I'm out the 20 bucks to ship it, and wouldn't be surprised if I have to pay return postage to claim it, then of course sending it back out...geez.

Yeah, I thought USPS had gotten better and would be an easier option for everyone because, believe it or not, not everyone has a UPS store right down the road from where they live.

Or maybe they are trying to start the process again, only this time they are using a different route. It can't go straight from Memphis to St Louis .... to St Louis. Maybe it has to go through Chicago to Kansas City then to St Louis. Makes sense to me. 😕

I'll be curious what options you come up with.
I'll probably do a couple of flights, depending upon the field I can get to. Definitely a D12-5 to start for the low and slow. If it comes in time for our club launch, I'm either going to do an E18W or F24-7. May stick a Marco Polo in it just in case! If not, I'll adapt it down for a QJET D16.

Edit:
I am assuming the wanderer with ballast is the latest Open Rocket file. If not, which file should be the goto for sims? I've seen 3 or 4 so far...

The Q-Jet D20s have been out for little while now. I licked some up just for this.

Freudian autocorrect app?

I hope you can stretch it's legs a little. The smallest thing I have right now are E30T-7's, but that might be a bit much without a tracker. Time to crank up Open Rocket...

We need to ask Tim Van Milligan for a RockSim plug-in to simulate the shipping route and time of fight for rockets/parts/motors based on the following inputs:

size and weight of box
Origin and destination
Declared value of contents
Shipping carrier used
Hazmat/non-hazmat

I’m thinking someone entered a wrong value in the “custom delay” field for The Traveling Wanderer! LOL!

Ahh, the drogue came out on the rail. Makes sense.
