I'm having a hard time hearing the beeps while the rocket is on the pad. I've lowered the beep freq but I'd like to increase the volume. Is there a way to do that?

The beeper on the Altus Metrum devices is connected directly to the GPIO of the micro-controller and therefore most likely driven with a fixed amplitude square wave.

There is no way to simply crank up the volume. This would require a redesign of the altimeter. But you can try to find a frequency that you can hear better. The frequency response of the beeper is a good starting point for which frequencies to try, but the end result also depends on your individual hearing and other factors.

Maybe there is a company that offers a louder beeper in the same form factor, but this would require soldering too. Besides that, tinkering with the frequency is probably the only thing that can be done.

Thanks. I was afraid that would probably be the answer.

I pretty much ignore the beeps. I just check TeleMega status through the AltusDroid app on my phone. Shows me everything I need to know and more than the beeps would tell.

I have the same problem with the EasyMega's, and there is no status signal to check on those. I have tried many things to be able to hear continuity without having to climb a ladder 20+ feet to listen up close. The thing that finally worked was a small FM transmitter taped over the vent hole. I raise the rocket, turn on the altimeter via wifi switch and then listen for the beeps on a portable radio. The FM transmitter has a string attached, and after I hear the beeps, I pull the transmitter off the rocket. This worked perfectly.
