I'm on a university rocketry team in Louisville, Kentucky, and we've had a massive rocket sitting around in our storage area as long as any of us have been around (hasn't flown in ~10yrs). It was built and flown (unsure how many times or where) by Darryl Hankes. It's ~12ft long and ~15in min dia (unsure diameter of the large ring). It's mostly made of wood so fairly heavy, no clue what the actual weight may be. I believe the motor mount is 8in.

Unfortunately the manager of the storage area that it was in wants it gone now. I would take it in a heartbeat if I had a place to put it, but I don't. I would love for this to go to someone willing to give it another flight or two. I can make some measurements if anyone is interested to make sure it would fit your transport method.

The university technically owns the rocket but they want it gone, so if not free it would cost <$50 (paid to the university, not me). Attached are a couple pictures of the rocket. And again if anyone is interested, I would be very happy to get you more information. I hope someone here is willing to give it a new life!

That is one HUGE upscale (~20x) Astron Sprite. Cool, but I'm nowhere near Louisville and wouldn't be able to store it myself if I were....

Awesome, I had no idea! It's a big one for sure

Crumble recovery?

If they would deliver at no cost I'd be totally up for it. Nice decoration for the farm.
I'd love to if I had a way of moving the thing, but unfortunately I don't so that's on the future owner.

What's the diameter of the ring on the fins?

Interested, but I'd need to know if it would fit in my full sized van.......

I know Daryll well, have flown with him several times, I would love to take it off your hands feel free to message me. Yes I can come get it.

I’m moving back to Lexington from Washington next month

Not sure which trip I’ll be bringing my boom truck back on but maybe we can work something out

I do not need to be the permanent owner, but I have space in Lexington to store it and the means to move it around once we’re moved

I'm in Indy and I could be at The U of L in 2 hours, but Wendy would Spazz. You guys figure it out! It's beautifully done and doesn't have the usual big used HP rocket "beaten up" look. U-Haul, a couple curved blocks, and lotsa bubble wrap.

Cheers / Robert

Ah yes -- do we now have documented evidence of where those "charitable donations" go and get used for - collecting dust at the recipients expense. Did the fed govt get their money's worth?
