Is there a reason a long-burn motor couldn't be developed for the 29/40-120 case? Similar to the g25 in the 29/120? Is the heat the issue? If its possible, I'd love to see one developed!

Closest they had to a long burn was the G33BJ. But those are gone now. I believe the problem with those was that they were technically over the 62g limit. Thus the rework into the G54FJ. They were cool.

I'm not familiar with the BJ suffix as it applies to rocket motors. Is that an old abbreviation for black jack?

Yup. Now they’re called fast black.
As far as I know there is Black Jack and Black Max. The Black Jack has the J designator and the Black Max has the FJ designator. So, it would seem that BJ would have been Black Jack and not Black Max(or fast black/fast jack). But I could be wrong.

Tomato/potato...
sorry.
Black Max is the fast version.
So, old was black jack (slower burning), new is black max (faster burning).

Right, I knew this. I just didn't know what BJ stood for.. Assuming it stood for Black Jack before being shortened to just J for Black Jack.

Any 75mm or 98mm Slow White Lightning motors in Development? I wouldn't mind a 75mm 4 grain DMS L motor with Slow White Lightning. I know it's none of my business what motors your developing and you don't need to answer me but I did notice 75mm and 98mm Slow White Lightning grains added to the RCS store.

G25's used to be single use (now called DMS). Wish they still were.

The G25 worked well in the older paper-phenolic case design. We dropped the single-use G25 because we stopped using those cases and it doesn’t work well in the glass-phenolic molded cases. Yes, you could use a liner but that reduces burn time and total impulse. There is also the difficulty of achieving accurate pyro time delays with long burn motors.

Those grains are used in the long burn 75 & 98mm motors. I assume you mean core burning vs. moonburning?

TMT has certified four new motors from Aerotech. There are two new Q-jet by Aerotech 24mm single-use motors, the D22W and the E26W, both with fixed delay times of 4,7, and 10 seconds.
What is roll out plan for these? These look GREAT for small field MPR. Can't wait for this summer. THANK YOU for keeping up expanding the options on the low end of the power spectrum.

I foresee a lot of those 24mm QuestJets in my future. The E26 might well replace both the E15/20 and E30 for most of my usage. Need to get the thrust curve files and see how they sim.

Are the D22W and E26W on Thrustcurve.org these motors? They're listed as hazmat there, which makes me uncertain.

Great, great stuff, earning the coveted three thumbs up. 👍 👍 👍

if the burn time matches the ‘22’ they should be great for my local field

Looks like it, the specs match up. It's confusing because they show up under Aerotech, whereas the C18W and D20W released in late 2020 are under Quest Aerospace. All White Lightening, all Q-Jets. There should be consistency in the assignment, either all Quest under Quest, or the Quest engines split by propellent (BP under Quest, composite under Aerotech). John Coker, if you're following, maybe you can weigh in.

As far as hazmat, that's confusing as well. The manufacturer may say non-hazmat, but vendors may lump them into hazmat because they are composite without really looking into it. Buyer beware. As for what the designation is on Thrustcurve, that depends on the poster. Another JK question (the C18W and D20W are listed as hazmat, but I think they are not according to Aerotech/Quest).

I wonder if they were listed that way originally because Aerotech was not revealing that those were to be sold as Qjets. In any event, the thrustcurve entries should be edited.
