I ordered from Flightsketch on the 3rd of Dec. It sat in CT for 14 days, went to NJ for a few days, then to MA for a few days, then to Kansas City MO for a while, then no tracking until yesterday. Its finally out for delivery, 31 days to go from CT to PA state. Good thing there weren't any black powder engines in the package, or I'd have to worry about CATOs later on. :(

I don't blame the local delivery guys at all; they're doing pretty well, once the package reaches them. Many packages move through the system quite quickly, so we know the system is capable of working. The problem is probably in the attitude of the distribution managers, and maybe in the relationship between the union and those managers: don't know because I've never been around them, but I've been around other union/management issues.

hobie1dog, you got a great callsign; did you request it specifically?

PeteD you know exactly what you are talking about and what you are talking about is 110% correct.
Which union are you related with?

I placed an order with Apogee on Dec 24th. It was finally accepted today in Colorado Springs and is on its way to Denver. 10 Days in Limbo.
You placed an order on the worst day of the year as far as shipping goes. You should be grateful your item has any movement on it at all.

I guess I have to count myself as one of the lucky ones. I placed numerous orders from both Apogee and BMS in November and December. In every case, delivery was either on time or delayed by no more than 1 or 2 days to a delivery point in Illinois. Tracking was a little hit or miss, especially in December.

Yeah, me too, only one package sat for a week with no movement and no updates. My original post regarding a package mailed from Portland going first north to Seattle before heading back south to California, still puzzles me. The package was from Giant Leap (not their fault) and I have placed a subsequent order with them that did not go north to Seattle before coming down to California, so perhaps it was just an error on the part of U.S.P.S., they make plenty of them.

My wife was scheduled to receive a USPS package (we live in Ohio) by 9:00 pm yesterday evening. It didn't show. Then it said, "in transit," then simply said that it had last been scanned in Wisconsin several days ago, its status now indicates that the package is late and would be delivered "soon."

I’m in California, my package starts out in Portland, OR, then goes north to Kent, WA, then north to Seattle, WA, before it starts going south to Stockton, CA. Now it has to start going north again to Oroville. Go figure, I’m sure it makes sense to the Post Office, collection points and distribution centers.

I know that I can mail a letter in Oroville, to someone else in Oroville, but the letter must first travel 26 miles south to Marysville, before returning to Oroville, for delivery.
If you send mail to anyone in my town it goes 100 miles to Las Vegas then 100 miles back here.

Because CVS is evil and the nearest one is a 45 minute drive away, we have to get our prescriptions by mail. It's one thing when some DVD's or books take a few weeks, whatever, them's the breaks right now (especially with media mail. Ugh) and those things aren't a big deal if they arrive late. But when the medication you need spends a couple of weeks in the "In Transit, Arriving Late" limbo, that's infuriating.

We're lucky to have our local tiny-town (pop. ~750) pharmacy, they're priceless. I wouldn't trade them for all the mail-order+big-box pharmacies on the planet.

We've been getting regular mail on time. I had an issue back in November with one USPS package, and near Christmas with one UPS delivery but it's been good here otherwise.

My package from Apogee using Priority Mail finally arrived. So did the replacement Kindle my son ordered but USPS turned into an accordian. They smashed the Apogee package but fortunately, there was no damage to the kits inside.

If I purchased something and it is now being sent to me, but it is past the expected delivery date. I have to take a second and remember a few key factors of why its late.
-the day after Black Friday is the busiest time of year for USPS, FedEX, UPS...
-Christmas shopping.
-mail-in ballots.
-2nd stimulus/relief check
-COVID-19
And lets not forget that Fiasco with USPS not being able to work overtime. Im not even sure how that went about but it probably affected delivery times.
I will give USPS a “pat on the back” though. They make sure that pound of ads written in Spanish are in your mailbox everyday.

They may not be paying overtime but I see them every Sunday, I guess they are working a different shift with week days off.
I just sent a priority mail flat rate box to GA from VA, said 3-days.
It took 3 days to go from Alexandria to Hagerstown, MD hub. It has not left and it's now 6 days after I dropped it inside the USPS branch here. But my wife received her Medicare care in about 5 days, 1st class...uh

Yeah, there are local pharmacies all over the place here that we could use, but our prescription drug coverage (from my employer) is through Caremark, which was bought out by CVS, and now anyone with Caremark has to buy their prescriptions from CVS. If you don't have one near you, you have to get them through the mail from CVS. The only exceptions they allow are for stuff you absolutely need today. With the post office as backed up as it is right now, you think they would allow more exceptions, but nope. Again, CVS is evil.

Having been lucky until now with USPS, what is the general meaning of a package tracking saying pre-shipment for almost a week now? It was a Black Friday shipment from Composite Warehouse that shipped on the 8th but still says pre-shipment. Did they just print the label and not bother taking it to the office?

That means that either the Post Office has not received it to scan it into the system, or that they did get it and never gave it an origin scan. IF it never got an origin scan, and it IS moving, likely it'll scan into the system the first sorting station it hits.....which likely should have happened already.

I figured it hadn’t been dropped off yet since it hasn’t even updated for now almost a week.

That's only one option. I just got a package yesterday that had shown same as yours for three weeks, but got all the way through the system from Ogden, UT to Virginia Beach, VA with zero scans until it showed up "Out For Delivery"

I ordered two Acme Spitfires on the 10th, received my tracking number that afternoon with "Expected Delivery" Thurs, Jan 14th.
I thought that was going to be fast.......we'll see what happens.
I checked today and the package went from CT to SEMINOLE-ORLANDO FL DISTRIBUTION CENTER, where it shows it departed at 06:58 today.
I think it would be safe to say I am not going to get it in Camas, WA today.

Still waiting on a Black Friday order... been stuck in Indiana since Dec.18th. Apparently Flash the Sloth is the incoming mail processor.

There are literally semi trucks FULL of mail sitting awaiting processing all over the system, and the pictures have circulated on the internet. They have not pursued a policy of FIFO, and instead said that they'll get to it when they get to it. Places in and around DC and St Louis are amongst the worst offenders, as well as some areas in SoCal.

I'm wondering how many millions of letters and packages are going to take years to be 'discovered' and finally delivered.

I finally got a response and they claim they’ll be shipping it today.... why even bother making a tag if you’re not shipping for a week?

Update: they never bothered to ship today.... screw em.

I have a package coming from e Rockets. It was picked up, for sure, according to Randy, by the USPS on Monday, but they evidently never scanned it at pickup as it is showing still waiting for pickup at the vendor....sigh.

Or, it might be on the way here, sans updates. Who knows.

I have had good luck all through the last year with the USPS, so I guess it was time for one of them to get messed up or lost.

I ordered two packages from CO on the same day... one showed up in 4 days... the other went 1200 miles in the wrong direction and is currently bouncing back and forth between San Fran and Oakland....

another package from IL never got an update afterit hit the post office. Rediculous. Both of my grandfathers retired from the postal service. They are both rolling in their graves at this point.

I think this should be a huge lesson to all rocketry companies to stop using USPS for shipping. I told Composite Warehouse to ship mine UPS since USPS has all these issues but they created a label for USPS (but haven't bothered to ship it for a week).

I didnt add to my previous post that I also had a package from NJ to CT where I am... took 2 weeks. And I had ordered a package 2 weeks prior to that from the same vendor... it took 2 days. From looking at both tracks... they sorted and went to different places (one in Albany, NY and one in Springfield, MA)... The one that went to Albany (that made no sense why it went there), took weeks. I honestly think some facilities arent even bothering to sort.... they just toss it in a truck to get it out of their building headed to a distribution facility hoping that facility will handle the work
