Best video I've seen all year!

My wife's dad and I are having a good time watching the various BD videos.

He's a software engineer, I'm a systems engineer with mechanical and fab background, and our main talking points are trying to identify exploitable weaknesses.
Aiming points, critical components, discussion of how difficult yanking power cables would be etc.....

I've seen some of the early prototypes in the Boston Dynamics lobby. They all show the battle scars of the process of "dialing it in." They even have an early Spot as the base of a coffee table in the reception area.

There was a well produced parody of the abuse one model took and the revenge it wrought. For my money, the dance video is real and superb.

My eldest son is a qualified robotics engineer. He told me it's the real deal, not CGI. I believe him more than internet CGI accusations.

Anyone who wonders how bad its going to get?

There's all kinds of scary potential with those things, but I guess it's not like that's different than a lot of technologies...just keeping them out of the hands of terrorists will be a good starting point.

On the flipside, some pretty interesting possibilities come to mind for SAR.

I must have seen too many movies. I keep expecting to see the robots being pushed and prodded turn around and at least slap the humans.

I expect much worse, but then I read sci fi as a kid and watched 2001 when I was stoned.
Also lived through a lot of the Cold War, so paranoia and I are close companions.

This is the internet, so I can't even tell if hes being sarcastic or not

True.......we need a sarcasm font color here......a Beechcraft forum I’m on uses green for sarcasm, while a hot rod one uses pink.....

This is NOT CGI... if you want to believe it is, it's not a crime to delude yourself.

If you want to see some CGI fun that some guys made... Corridor parodied a few of Boston Dynamics videos. They're REALLY well done, and very entertaining.

Links...

Ya right.....look at the shadows...they will tell all. It’s Computer animation...a great job though....

Tell that to Boston Dynamics. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Don’t need to....they already know it’s fake....a good promo but if you look real close there bare plenty of giveaways in the video. Never trust a full lit area with few to no shadows....lighting an area that size to produce few shadow and moving camera....well you get the point.

Im willing to give benefit of doubt to BD. (and if it is fake, Musk got fooled too)
