LOC flexible phenolic

About to start ordering parts for my next HPR build, 5.5" MDRM that I've 3D printed a nose cone for. There are just enough trees around the field I launch at now that I'm wanting something a bit more durable than straight cardboard should it get entangled and has to be yanked free of one.

I was originally planning on Blue Tube, but the issues with swelling/delamination in humid climates plus its extra weight have kind of turned me off on using it.

Anyone have some recent experience with the LOC flexible phenolic? Does it require glassing like regular phenolic, or can it be used as-is?

Dose LOC have flexible phenolic in that size? Maybe blue tube would be a good choice.

Yep, they do. 42" length.

My Yank (the current LOC boys) 4” Iris was built from the “new” flexible phenolic years ago. Never got around to glassing it and just built it instead. Flew for years just fine. Actually still could fly if I wanted to. Just kinda set it aside for rockets that could hold bigger motors

Love the LOC stuff. I have built one rocket out of blue tube. A 3D printed Saturn V. The swelling of the tube has caused several cracks in the prints. I will not use it again. Good luck with the build. And as everyone knows, it is not true until you post lots of pics
