I have Missleworks RRC3x altimeters already but I like to also utilize different manufacturers to co ride for redundant deployment as well as back up data. And just fun. These will be riding in everything from 54mm , 75mm and 98mm minimum diameter projects and larger. Not looking for anything with on board gps or telemetry. Have separate tracking . Let's hear those suggestions, uses and recommendations. Leaning towards the MARSA33 or Raven with cost and what they do.

Egg timer quantum. If you hurry you can get some for 30 bucks each. I have two that I’ve been using and just got three more during the ongoing holiday sale. Uses WiFi to arm and program, lots of options and settings. Yes you have to assemble them but it’s not that difficult to learn, and will give you confidence in soldering and wiring .

If you are interested in flight data, you have to also consider the tools provided to collect and analyze it. I prefer Marsa for dual deployment projects, but I often send a Raven along for the ride to collect more data. for example, I once had an outstanding flight (wit’s yet another company’s altimeter on board), but after the flight I found that no data was collected. it would have been nice to have redundant data collection that time.

They are all great! If you are into staging or air starts, anything accel based is the way to go. If you are limited to size, Raven would get my vote. I have both MARSA & Raven and they have always performed well. I like the Raven featherweight interface program too. Makes programming pretty easy. MARSA requires LCD option and you have to "fat finger" your way through programming.

Was looking at those. Recently ordered gps trackers. May grab some just for the cost as try outs and spares.

Fat finger?? Is there something you find in this you don't like about it?

I know with the MARSA you don't need a laptop interface to set it up.

I own both and love both.

But how I use them comes down to size...I use the Raven for 2.6" airframes and below and I use the Marsa for 3" and up.

Both have great data logging and staging capabilities. The Marsa is programmable in the field with an LCD, the Raven takes a computer but the interface is user friendly.

If I had to choose one, the main criteria would be staging for me since that what I normally fly, so I would go Marsa. Marsa has a tilt lockout with some great logic while the Raven uses velocity and altitude lockouts. But the Raven is still great and I love it. You can't go wrong.
