I'm thankful for my 2 feline rescue fellows. And the disability income which allows me to care for them and to have a place to live. And for my 80 year old parents; who no longer can drive and gave me their less than a decade old van to replace my literally quarter-century old van.
Used the van to take one of the feline fellows for his annual vaccinations today.

He may not have been overly thankful for that ...

I dislike politics. I do vote. My vote usually does not count in my home state but that changed a few years ago. Prior to the early 2000s, my state would vote for the same party even if Charles Manson was their lead candidate.
Yeah Chuck.,..sad.

Mail-in voting !

We finally finished filling out our forms, sealed the envelopes, let the post office do the rest.
Delayed the final selection until after we watched super-entertaining Zoom session of 4 local school board candidates competing for 2 openings. Changed our mind about 1 of the two selections due to that online debate. We even let the kids participate in the deliberation, and they made sensible suggestions.

Wish I could say the same about our national candidates.
I live in a state, yet again (4 moves in a row now), where my national vote has zero chance of influencing the outcome.
One of these days I will buy a cabin in a swing state just so that my national vote would matter again!

Hear hear for mail in voting. We'll get our ballots in about a week. Most likely we'll fill them out by the end of the next weekend and go drop them in a drop box. WA has a standard of one drop box per 15,000 (residents or voters, can't remember which), so there are two within 15 minutes of home and another one at a park across town we take our kid to for sports. We could also mail postage free, but given USPS issues this year... A week later, I'll check the county website to make sure they matched our signatures.

Counting starts at 8am on Election Day since every ballot in the state is by mail with limited exceptions. They release the tally at 8:15pm, go home, and come back in and count some more in the morning. We know landslides on Election Night and close races by COB Friday for the most part.

What about the classic Bud Light vs Miller Lite, a highly debated contest throughout the 1970-1980's. Now all one company. And don't forget Michelob light.

Being able to watch on TV in the late sixties and early seventies the daring Apollo missions which got me so excited to discover model rocketry back then.

I had the Revell 1/96th Saturn V and (was it Monogram or Revell) the larger scale CSM/Lunar module with moon surface and you'd better believe the modesl followed the progress of the mission every step of the way... I'm trying to remember, did one of them also have the large scale LM adapter so I could detach the CSM from the adapter and extract the LM? Seems like that was the case...

As I've mentioned, my 6 year old granddaughter, last year when we viewed the 50th anniversary video, did the same with a tougher but accurate model I'd gotten that she could use to simulate the mission. And I'm thankul for that!

Being Canadian (Watching "your" [US] politics & Covid response & the state of some of your cites [rioting & such]...)

Seriously though:
Health (despite it isn't what it should be for a 50+ year old)
Happiness (I have enough toys & $$, so I can't complain. Covid has put a damper on our spending, so a lot is getting paid off & invested!)

Politics? We've missed a huge opportunity this year. We could've cut the top off the Capitol dome, mounted a vertical axis wind turbine, and had even more surplus energy just form the enormous quantity of hot air spewing forth! :D

And the methane. Instead of draining the swamp they turned it into a cesspool.

I'm just amazed at how bad it's gotten!! How divided you've become..

as we say: "You sneeze, we get the cold!"

I could also add, as a Canadian, I don't have to worry about getting Covid, or the testing, or being in ICU on an ventilator. It's all covered under my provincial Medicare.. I don't have to think about a loan or becoming bankrupt just to get a band-aid from the hospital.. (although there are other issues with "free" healthcare: Long waits for example..)

DR....what I read and this is contrary to what Bernie wants Medicare-for-all...is that private insurance is a BIG component of Canadian system. Your Health care does not cover vision and Dental benefits..is this true? If Yes....that is what the USA should do.....will still keep some private insurance companies afloat with Optical and Dental.

Well, I apologize for getting us off-topic. I am thankful beyond words that I can still work from home. I feel bad for those worse affected by all this and especially those who have lost loved ones.

I watched a live cricket game.... One of the players got warned for "conduct not in the spirit of the game" refreshing.
(He was arguing a 4 over, talked back once at a normal tone of voice)

now, all i need to do is figure out the nuances of cricket

Who in the world would teach a bunch of crickets to play a game. Much less create rules for them?
And what is a normal voice for a cricket? I don't care how soft they are, they are annoying!

Australian Taxation Office
Ha, the IRS of down under. To the OP who just got a job with IRS, congratulations. As a Federal retiree, welcome to the work force, unlike politicians, we do support the citizens of USA. Too bad some politicians do not appreciate the IRS because without, they could not get their paycheck.
