Easy Timer/Altus Metrum help

Newb to Altus Metrum products, I've recently purchased an EasyTimer V1 to use for staging.

I've downloaded the Altus software, but I have yet to be able to successfully hook up to the computer to talk to it.

Do I need to have it powered on to be recognized/talk?

All Altus products need to be powered up with battery to communicate with AltOS.

Also a newbie to Altus Metrum products. Trying to configure the Easy Timer. Successfully downloaded the AltOS. USB connected, powered up Easy Timer but AltOS isn't seeing the device. Tried three different USB cords that I know are good. Same thing. The USB ports also work fine with other devices. Any help is appreciated.

You probably need to have the altimeter usb cable connected to the computer before powering up to enter idle mode for configuration and accessing flight data.
