No I did not. After all your comments last year regarding a certain key incident........:)

And here, I was willing to forget that. But not anymore.... ;)

I just got off the phone with the nice lady at the hotel in Harper. My reservation has now been moved, as well.

Looking forward to seeing you again, Gary!

Same her Troj! Of course at the mandated 72" distance.

Anyone needing a room consider Caldwell Messenger Suites. They have a nice albeit only two room hotel. I stayed last year and am again this year so there may only be one room left😊. Great little hotel run by a sweet lady and only 20 minutes from the Pasture.

Lol everyone must be calling Harper Cobblestone. I just got off the phone and explained that I was coming down for the Kloudbusters launch and the lady that answered said that as we get closer to Airfest they will make phone calls to everyone with reservations in Anthony Cobblestone to get them switched over to Harper - only if Anthony is still closed. She said she is very confident that Anthony though will be open by then. Sounds like they are on top of it.

The Cobblestone room availability is being worked. The COVID had been very hard on these small businesses. My first exposure to any concern was last night..I will be in conversation with management on Monday for more clarification and I'll update as soon as I get the info.

As I said on Friday evening, I will call and talk to the Cobblestone Inn management on Monday. It does very little good to get information from the on-duty weekend desk clerk. Seriously.

The management will also be reminded of the 400+ room nights we sold last year for them. I have slammed my fist on hotel counters before.

--Lance.

On a further note, if you aren't confident with the Cobblestone situation, the Wyndham Baymont/Travelodge in Wellington told me about two weeks ago that they are running "business as usual". The food and beverage, gas, Walmart, groceries, etc. options in Wellington are far and away better than Anthony or Harper.

I suspect they're starting to figure out that we're coming. When I called this morning, I was asked, "Are you coming for the Rocket Fest?" I answered in the affirmative.

Harper location was closed while Anthony location was open a few months back. Then they closed the Anthony location (for renovations to be completed by August 1st is what I was told). Harper location was fielding all the calls for both locations. Lets just hope that if anyone has a reservation at either location, they can make it work for all of us.

I have a feeling this will be one of the slower/less attended Airfests in a long time. Regardless, super jacked up to go, masks and all. :)

Good to know, thank you sir.

Hello everyone ...

I spoke with the general manager at the Harper Cobblestone Inn today regarding the two Cobblestone Inn properties in Harper and Anthony. Currently, the Harper hotel is open and the Anthony hotel is not; the reason being a balance of demand and staffing. The status of both hotels will be discussed between this manager and the owner regarding having both hotels in operation starting on September 1. This manager does not have final decision-making authority. I asked that they arrive at a decision by August 1 and let me know directly.

She knows there are reservations being held by a few folks at both hotels and told me after the final decision is made that she will contact everyone with a reservation, resolve duplicate reservations, and if both hotels are open get folks in the location they prefer or move them to Harper if that is the only hotel open.

According to her, there are still rooms available at Harper. I would recommend if you only have a room at Anthony Cobblestone to call and reserve a room at Harper as well; it will get sorted out later.

I had a report that someone was told by hotel personnel that they did not think the rocket launch would happen. I told this manager that the only person who would make that decision was me (in reality others would be involved, but I'm the mouthpiece) and that unless she heard it from me it was a rumor. I also told her to inform her staff that the rocket launch would occur as planned.

Folks, we continue to proceed with a plan that AIRFest 26 will occur as planned. There are challenges and procedural modifications, but we are going to deal with them as they arise.

Since August 1 is on Saturday, I will give a call to the manager on Monday morning to get status. I’ll also remind everyone that there are other hotel options.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Thanks Lance!

Is there a list of vendors that will be at AirFest, or did I miss it in the posts....??

Good news.

I just got a call from the Cobblestone Inn manager and BOTH the Anthony and Harper hotels will be open by September 1. This means "go" for AIRFest 26.

Her plan is to go through the list of everyone with a reservation to clean-up any duplicates and to ensure folks are reserved in the property they want. If you think you have a reservation and don't hear from the Cobblestone Inn by the end of this week (August 1, 2020), give them a call NEXT WEEK to confirm your reservation.

Already got my confirmation call about my Anthony reservation.

Lance, Bob and crew: Thanks for your work on this, and the million other things To make this launch happen.

Ok everyone, 5 weeks and counting until AIRFest 26.

I can't deny planning for this event is presenting some unique challenges. It is going to take the cooperation of everyone who comes to assist in making this a healthy, safe and fun launch. We are getting close to 100 registered flyers.

A few things I want to mention today (many of these you have heard in recent days/months):
  • If you have a fever or feel sick, STAY HOME. If you can, drop us an email to let us know; we'll refund your fees and see you next time.
  • Social distancing must be practiced at the field. This is what makes having an outdoor event work. You will need to set-up your prep camp 6 feet from anyone else. Spread out - the Rocket Pasture is HUGE.
  • Masks are to be worn when near other people.
  • Masks are MANDATORY in the RSO area. RSO will be "touch-less".
  • Almost every aspect of launch operations will be tweaked to promote adherence to recommended healthy protocols. We'll brief you more on this later.
  • Bring your own pen/pencil for completing flight cards and other writing needs. We won't supply any. Flight cards will be used.
  • Bring plenty of water. Communal water jugs will not be available this year.
  • If you can't follow our enhanced rules, best to STAY HOME.
We plan on briefing flyers on procedures and highlighting the changes.

A few other points:
  • I want to emphasize the advantage of PRE-REGISTRATION more than ever. Your time spent checking-in will be very short if you pre-register. The pre-registration deadline is 17-Aug-2020 for flyers and ordering t-shirts.
  • Basically, if you're on the fence we recommend you pre-register NOW. It is OK if you pre-register and decide to cancel. We just ask that you let us know by the opening of the launch. If you do that, we will refund your flyer fees.
  • We need more Range Duty volunteers. Every flyer should "pay it forward" with a minimum of two shifts of range duty.
You will hear more from us in the period leading up to the launch. We talk frequently within our team about launch logistics to make AIRFest 26 the best launch possible.

Holy volunteer gaps, Batman!

Volunteering is a great way to meet people, and is a lot of fun! If you're not sure you're "ready" for a slot, sign up to be a Pad Manager or to help out at Registration. If everyone who registers takes one slot, the schedule gets filled up really quickly.

I'll volunteer...eventually. My daughter might be coming with me and I'll be making her take a volunteer slot as well. But whether she comes along will not be determined until about a week or two prior to Airfest...

I'm also packing plenty of:
Hand Sanitizer
Gloves
Soap
