I'm enjoying watching this thread Bobby. I was in my office when I reached your flight video. Said out loud, "oh no" when the rocket crashed. I felt so bad. Happy that your are quickly rebuilding it.Mail call. Now I can start the rebuild of the upper section.
Thank you. It won't be 100% as good as new but it will pass the 10' test.I'm enjoying watching this thread Bobby. I was in my office when I reached your flight video. Said out loud, "oh no" when the rocket crashed. I felt so bad. Happy that your are quickly rebuilding it.
Like Donkey Kong??Oh it is on.
Don't forget with this COVID-19 stuff its taking longerThanks. I am waiting on some printed fairings from boyce aerospace. I was hoping they would be here today, but the tracking shows Monday now. Darn.
This is the 2157 limited edition one. 1969 is the newest version but not available for purchase. Sounds like they will be releasing a new. Version sometime soon. What model # is this #2157 or #1969? I can never stay on top of them. I want to build one, so which model # is currently available and what is the difference between the two? Is one better than other or easier to build?
They made it in 3 working days, I just procrastinated too much. LolDon'y forget with this COVID-19 stuff its taking longer
So many versions hard to keep track. Do you like either one more than other? If you had a choice? This is the 2157 limited edition one. 1969 is the newest version but not available for purchase. Sounds like they will be releasing a new. Version sometime soon.
Everything I ever saw suggested that 1969 was improved in a number of ways.So many versions hard to keep track. Do you like either one more than other? If you had a choice?
And the kit is currently unavailable correct?Everything I ever saw suggested that 1969 was improved in a number of ways.
I wonder why that is? They have a really good kit with improvements and then they discontinue it go figure? I wonder if the newest version that will be out next I wonder if it will share some of the same characteristics as the 1969 kit?Yes, unfortunately. Discontinued and seems to be sold out everywhere.
Did you have to add nose weight and what engine were you flying it on?I darted my SV a few weeks ago and then decided to make a Skylab... Won't fly again but not a total loss.View attachment 420951 View attachment 420952
It flew several times before. Yes. I had too much nose weight and flew it on an Estes E12-4. Should have used the E30.Did you have to add nose weight and what engine were you flying it on?
Yes, unfortunately. Discontinued and seems to be sold out everywhere.
Thanks for that link. I just picked up what I could find at the local hobby shop for now. All they had was a bt60 so I had to sand it down a bit.Good job on the reconstruction. Man you work fast.
Erockets has a balsa capsule with the right shape here, if you're interested.

I wish I would have known that before. Here is the size difference. I will add the stock ones over the boyce ones.Boyce fins are likely true scale and Estes upsized theirs for stability
After putting that into open rocket, the boyce fins move the cp forward by about 6 inches!!
True. I will put the stock fins over the boyce ones and get some different engines. Probably E30-4The Sat5 was never supposed to be a completely passively stabilized rocket. Its the big problem with scale missiles too
