No problem, I confirmed with him over on FB... Just before I had to go and teach a class. His MDRMs feature Estes NCs and Body Tubes. The fins are laser cut by him, and the skins are also laser cut. He also uses Kevlar for his shock cords.
If we're talking about OpenRocket, treed rockets, and difficulties about getting and building rockets here in China, it was me. Thanks!Thank you very much for the info . Appreciate that
I finished listening to a podcast episode with I believe you and the rocket NOOB on the model rocket show ! It was a good episode
Estes still sells the nosecone & slotted body tube that was used for DMRM. I picked them up last fall after I saw one fly at a launch.

Do you have a website? That’s where I get them for my Mega Der Red Max clones. Anyone can get them. But then there’s the problem of fins. You can get those at Erockets. But then you’ve got all the other parts: motor retainer, rail buttons and launch lugs, parachute, shock cord, etc. maybe erockets has all of that but you’ll have to find it. My kit is complete except for graphic which can be purchased at Stickershock. It should save you some money over buying parts from several different sources.
Is there a place where I can see what kits you have? Not yet. Most people contact me on Facebook Messenger as I'm always on there and the only Toby Vanderbeek in the world. You can also message me here but I don't check every day.
Mega Der Red Max: still can't figure out why Estes stopped making this one. Good thing they are available from Big Red here and you can scrounge up the parts. It has got to be the perfect Level 1 HP kit. Big, fat, easy to see, doesn't go too high, very light, fins self-align, etc. With the low weight and soft nose cone, even a lawn dart isn't all "that" dangerous. I've been putting one together with the E-Rockets fin kit and motor mount rings, and the Estes slotted body tube and nose cone, going for extreme lightness. The only place epoxy was used (JB Original) is at TTW tabs to motor mount and rings to motor mount. A little dab of Aeropoxy along fin edges to resist crunch. Rest is Titebond II with paper skins over the balsa. Even trying some lightweight filleting. Good stuff, probably would have purchased a kit if I had been on TRF last year when I gathered up parts. Part of my "resisting overbuild" therapy.

I will be putting my original Estes PSII Der Red Max kit on Ebay this weekend....... It's unopened and in great condition.....
I just don't think I will ever build it.
how much are you listing it for ?
Not exactly sure yet Adam ............. Im sure it would start at like $100.00
Shall I just save it for you instead of posting an AD

Part-scrabbled MDRM painted. Used Rusto "Strawberry Fields." for an in-between color to follow instructions and catalog pic. It's ??? but covered WELL. I went ultralight with Tite-Bond II on everything but heat-exposed joints. Also tried lighter fillets, a water based wood putty product called "Dura-Seal FT144" I got somewhere. Think it's same as Min-Wax. Built and sanded fillets and clear lacquer (dope) over to seal them. No recovery system or bridle and well under 32oz spec. weight. Papering fins this large was an oops and added finishing work, some wrinkles on a couple surfaces. Required a little putty and a couple coats of dope on fins, sanding in between. You can see some paper artifact on some of the fins. Heck with it - sturdy! The Semroc MDRM upgrade kit went together well - pre-sand and don't force the dovetails, they should fit right together.
