I do not. It doesn't bother me that they are not super smooth so I just let them go as is.Those are great results...do you prep your balsa fins at all??

Moving right along...this attempt to paint my PML Spitfire with Rustoleum paints is turning into a lesson in “paint curing“.
[...]With each attempt...less and less paint biting. Note: This on the side of the Rustoleum spray paint can, "Under" Dry and Re-coat times..."On plastic, maximum paint adhesion and durability is achieved in 5-7 days. Sheesk !!!

I've been saying this for how long? Rusto sucks period!!!!! I use nothing but Duplicolor. I buy it at Pep Boys for under $6 a can and its worth it. No Rusto no Krylon they are all garbage. The amount of time you spend on such a nice model rocket to have it destroyed and more time to fix the paint job...is it worth it?Here is another data point for Rustoleum masochists.
I painted Interceptor sidepods Rustoleum Orange. Two layers of paint went on perfectly. Allowed it to cure for 48+12 = 60 hours in my warm and dry basement. The same place I store all my paints.
It was a warm and sunny day yesterday, so I went to spray the same-brand Rustoleum Clearcoat (can on the right of Orange Rusto) after 3+ minutes of shaking and mixing. Got massive alligator skinning / biting all over. See the left-hand-side side pod.
Figured what the hack, lets run an experiment.
Sprayed DupliColor Clearcoat onto the second side-pod (can on the left of Orange Rusto).
It went on perfectly, no drama. Perfect results.
DupliColor also dries and cures in 15 minutes.
Go figure!?
My answer - Rustoleum quality control sucks monkey balls!

I've just ordered a bunch of orange and clear coat paints from DupliColor and Tamiya.
As soon as they arrive, my Rustoleum cans go into the trashcan.
YMMV.
Rusto works great. Just need to do it correctly.I've been saying this for how long? Rusto sucks period!!!!! I use nothing but Duplicolor. I buy it at Pep Boys for under $6 a can and its worth it. For you maybe but it seems the majority of the people on here have had nothing but issues with using itRusto works great. Just need to do it correctly.
That is a gross exaggeration. There are many many examples of trouble-free paint jobs here with Rust-Oleum but they don’t get the bulk of the discussion. For you maybe but it seems the majority of the people on here have had nothing but issues with using it
Every problem with paint jobs have always been with "Rusto" or Krylon paints. Hey to each their own. I mean if you like using it and can get around the dry times and the poor quality cone type spray patterns ... then thats cool, but I'll never waste my time or money on it because IMO its garbage. That is a gross exaggeration. Yes there are problems sometimes but “a majority have had nothing but issues”? Come on.

Yeah I understand ...some of us don't have the accessibility as most. Hopefully you will get an opportunity to try it. Have an awesome day!Given that those are the two most available spray paint brands, and that most people only post (about spray paint) to complain or seek advice, I think "every problem" is just statistics (with "every" being exaggeration).
There are few stores within 50 miles in this high-population-density area that carry anything other than Krylon and Rustoleum. I've used both, and I've had successes and problems with both. The problems are likely due to too-thick coats / lack of pre-coat sanding / impatience. Maybe Duplicolor is great, but if I have to place a $100+ order to avoid high shipping costs, I'm less likely to try it. Wish it was more available, including their Adhesion Promoter that will supposedly keep my glass-over-cardboard tubes from soaking up so much epoxy.
Rusto works great. Just need to do it correctly.
Go back and not that the quoted commenter said, "The can mentions either respraying within 1 hour or waiting for 48 hours before applying a clear coat but nothing about just re coating. "Well that is a pretty straightforward case of not understanding the instructions.
