I am currently looking for an easy build flying saucer kit.

Colin

Have you heard of the Art Applewhite kits?
https://www.artapplewhite.com/

he has some free PDF plans also:
https://www.artapplewhite.com/free.html

I made his Scout themed Qubits, great 13mm power fliers.

This is the saucer I built in 2003. All dimensions are based on the motor tube OD.

I built 24, 54, and 98 mm versions
And a video of the 98mm version on an Rx N800 :)

I went to art applewhite's site nothing is there any more . Except the stealth in 18 and 24 . I never ordered anything from him

You have to click on the free stuff link on that page . That will take you to another page with LOTS of free plans.
Or go to the Rocket Garden and order his kits.

The rocketry garden goes back to his site . Only the free stuff is there

The dimensions of the saucer are the first pic in the post with the video.
These are the 98mm on the N800

[QUOTE="BeyondEarth, post: 1938853, member:... but also look around for small spools as they make great odd rockets![/QUOTE]

Spools from 3D printer filament work well. Should be plenty of those around if you ask.

Here are a few of my oddrocs. 29, 24 and 18mm cinco, courtesy of Art Applewhite personally. And an 18mm "Aramis" of my own design. (Yes there were 2 other "Bucketeers")

More info on the Aramis. How does the bucket fly? How did you come by the name of Aramis?
Isn't that a mens' cologne?;)
Oh, wait. Are the other two bucketeers Ethos and Porthos?
Where's D' Artagnan?
Never mind.:D

All you need are a couple of paper bowls, a piece of 24mm tube, launch lug, and a couple of centering rings. LED lights optional.

I juat threw an MMT into a bucket and sent it. Dollar tree bucket. 2"x2" square of 1/8" ply epoxied to it. A c6 used motor punched out to give the motor tube more rigidity. Epoxy doesnt like to stick to the bucket. I drilled 1/16 holes to help keep it stuck. I havent found a 4th worthy of the name D'Artagnan

I'm not at my computer right now... But search dollar store Halloween bowls, and you should find some ideas.

I won't have any trouble with the law. Rural Michigan is where it's at!
I hear ya. One of my 4H club launches had the police arrive with tires skidding but, oddly, no lights or sirens. When the officers emptied the rear seats of their cruisers to unload six wide-eyed boys to come watch we knew we were safe.

Here's a holloween bowl with an old bottom stage from something else. D12-0 to D12-3. Fun, but it tends to be horizontal when the the "sustainer" finishes its burn. Buck for the bowl, everything else was scrap stuff I had laying around.
