You could cut 1" off the booster tube and you would have your switch band.

This exactly. Though unless you are using large rotary type switches, there's no reason the switch/vent band even needs to be 1" long. I went to robotics screw switches mounted on the sled and now my switch bands can mostly be 0.5 to 0.75" long.
I could do that. But then I would have to saw and sand and hope my cut is straight and looks nice. Or I could buy a precut switch band and sand and hope that cut looks nice.

The tube would not be hard to cut at all. I cut useing a fine tooth hack saw. Take your time and it will turn out great. Or break down and buy one.
I actually just opened the package and even though it wasn't mentioned in the parts list it did include a switchband. this can be marked as found
