The way I see it shipping is a wasted cost. I get no value out of it after the fact. The extra $17 gets me another altimeter which has value until I lose it or break it.
I had a co-worker once who used to say "there you go being logical again." that seems appropriate here. :)

It was often not appropriate in the context of Boeing bureaucracy (which is where it would come up).

If Boeing was bad try Dept of Energy.....

Boeing was bad enough. I'll pass on DoE. I've also had a glimpse, from a Boeing perspective, of the FAA. That's close enough for me. There are a few people I miss, but in general I'm glad my Boeing years are now three years behind me.

Now, back to Russ' neat product(s). [/thread drift]

Definitely looking forward to getting the two units I ordered from Russ, (I had shipping confirmation at 9:44am Pacific yesterday, and iirc I scored my two at 12:15am Eastern).
I have been seriously wanting one of these as I observed the ones you and Larry K. have.

The last batch of packages from Black Friday orders will be in the mail tomorrow morning. Everyone should have a tracking number by now. Please let me know if you did not get one.

Thanks for your patience, we’ll try again in a few weeks!

Thanks! Mine arrived today. However I can't get either unit to pair with my Samsung Galaxy S7. They show up as available once powered up, but when I click to pair, it says that the flightsketch rejects the pairing. I don't have anything else currently paired that would impede/prevent it. Has anyone else seen this issue? I'll check with one our fire tablets in a bit to see if that device will allow them to pair.

Glad they arrived. The FS Mini uses BluetoothLE which is a little different than traditional Bluetooth. There is no pairing process required through the OS - all connections are managed through the FlightSketch app.
The user guide shows the process here:

There is also a short video on the product page with a demo.

Hope that help, please let me know if you have any questions.

Got mine today. Links up with my iPod touch with no problem. Looking forward to flying it.

Is there a reason why there is no "disarm" function, the only option is arm for launch or download data?

No good reason. The Sport has a disarm since there are events that need to be disabled but there isn't much to disarm on the mini. It could power down the sensors but that is micro Amp level current. It's an easy add though if you guys want it.

Thanks, it doesn't show up in the app either after pull down... at least on the phone. It does work on the iPad though, so there's that. I'll keep troubleshooting.

The altimeters are set up as a Bluetooth peripheral. They can only connect to one phone/tablet at a time. Make sure you disconnect (either back to the device list page or just quit the app) before trying to connect with something else. Also try to turn Bluetooth off and back on with the phone to clear things out on that end.

Just saw this today. Any idea when more will be available?

On order now, hopefully a couple of weeks.

Also try powering up the FS Mini first before launching the app....so that it gets picked up on the initial scan when the app starts.

Not being familiar with the various Android devices (I’m an Apple guy mostly), I can also say that side-by-side it takes MUCH longer for the connection to happen on my little Fire tablet as it does on my iPhone or iPad. I was able to watch that in real time last night as I was running three FS Minis side-by-side with my phone, this iPad and the Fire 7.

Admittedly that’s an unfair comparison on many levels given the specs of the current Fire 7, but still....

My Mini arrived in the mail today. I turned on the Mini, fired up the Android FS app, hit connect & there it was. Cool

I sew a little bit. Anyone have a pattern for a Mini bag?

My mini came today as well. I had no issues with it pairing to my Android phone and it fits nicely in an 18mm MD rocket. I can't wait to try it out.

Yeah, something is conflicting on the Galaxy S7... my wife's won't connect either, but the fire tablets do... so at least I know I'm not holding it wrong! :)78721837_552130408683770_385954793534783488_n.jpg 78737458_942020252865540_490681124301832192_n.jpg In the meantime, I designed and printed a few things. :) They work perfectly.

No idea about the S7. Is there some kind of setting to enable/disable Bluetooth LE?

Now all you need in that case is a hole through which a tether can be routed and then you could use it outside a payload section.

How new is the S7? There are several apps you can use to verify the device supports BLE. Is the app running but just not finding the altimeter?

Nice work on the cases!

swatkat, I have a Galaxy S7 and mine hooked up right away. At first I tried to connect to it in the Bluetooth settings but that didn't work. So I opened up the FS app and it was there & when I hit connect it connected. Hope this helps.

THanks, both of my units show up in BT pairing, but refuse to pair. Neither show up in the app, which I uninstalled and reinstalled last night to make sure it is wasn't the app. This happens on both my S7 and my wife's. The units do pair and work with our iPad, so they aren't at fault.

My Oakley glasses and my other fitness items work just fine with BLE...same phone. And I'm sure they aren't connected/paired when attempting.

And I just drilled the holes for both the tether and a vent...

I have the Samsung S7 as well, not able to connect. Have tried all the "tricks."

I got my 2! Both paired right up to my iPhone through the app. Now to figure out data download.

Did you allow the app to use location when it first started? It will fail to find anything with that permission turned off. You can also check under Settings-> Apps-> FlightSketch to see if it is allowed.

Also, if anyone has purchased a mini and found out their device does not support BLE, please contact me if you would like to return it.

That did the trick !!! Thanks

Hmm, I have notifications allowed, permissions include Location and Storage... I'll check on this Bluetooth LE disable.
