Wildman Blackhawk 38

I have a BH 38 I have not started the build yet but have the Loki 38/1200 case.

The layout starts at 0 on the green pad and I lined up the 0 on the blue with 21" mark.

Looks like 3.5-4" of room for the drogue section.

Two ematches on the apogee channel wouldn’t hurt either, redundancy wise (pending testing).
 
The Raven has 4 deployment channels. There is your redundancy.

2 altimeter redundancy is overblown. Don't stress yourself out trying to cram multiple altimeters into 38mm.

Several single points of failure with this approach, but I get it that 38 mm may not easily allow a true redundant DD setup...

I’ve been flying the Wildman Blackhawk 38 for several years now. Jim’s excellent build thread was very informative and helpful. I’ve been flying the Blackhawk 38 with Loki hardware. You can’t go wrong using their threaded forward closure with the 1/4” eyebolt for the shockcord retention.

I fly the rocket dual deploy drogue less. One thing to keep in mind. Loki hardware is heavy. I had to upgrade the Parachute that comes with the kit to a FruityChute Iris 30 inch to slow the decent rate down. That was only using a Loki 38-240 case. You will have to run simulations to see if you can fit a large enough main Parachute in the small payload section to deal with the extra weight of a Loki 38-1200 case.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm planning to fly my Blackhawk 38 with Loki 38-240 and 38-480 loads this winter.
 
My BlackHawk 38 went to 3,160 feet on a Loki H160 in the Loki 240 case.

Be sure to run a second ground ejection charge test if you install a larger main parachute. I completed initial ground testing with the stock Wildman supplied parachute. .75 worked fine in both the booster and payload sections.

I had to upgrade the payload section to 1.2 to achieve a satisfactory ejection with the tight pack of the larger parachute.

I may order a longer payload tube from Wildman. That way there would be room for a larger parachute for the big boy Loki cases.

Has anyone flown on on a J530 with the type and amount of glue that the kit comes with?
 
This Blackhawk 38 is flying on a Loki H 100 Spitfire. The Blackhawk leaves the pad so fast, that a camera shooting 13 frames a second only had two frames with The whole rocket in them.
 
Parachute
Since I plan on launching at Lucerne Valley next weekend, I'm thinking the rocket will be somewhat cushioned by the dry lake bed.

Ok, it's been a long time since I have been there but I would not expect a landing on the dry lake bed to be cushioned. From what I remember I might as well have been standing on rock. There is a fine layer of sand on the lake bed but below that is hard compact ground.
