I'm starting to think about the motors I want for this year's WM black Friday sale.. And that got me thinking, what are my favorite motors, what are the ones I like to have a stock of, what are the ones I stay away from..

For me: (I'm an AT guy..)
G64
I245
J420
D12-5
C6-7
I always try to have a few of these on hand.. I will pick a few others, but these are usually on teh order..

You?
What is a constant in your box?
What do you stay away from?

H180 and I435 from AT
G80 from Loki

I make sure I have several of them on-hand at any given time.

I was gonna add the Estes D12 but instead I'll say the E30 from AT. I always have some D12s but I can never keep E30s around because I use them as soon as I get them.

I get a lot of mileage out of D12s and Aerotech E15s. Always have them with me.

Based on recent experience, the Questjet D16s might join that list.

I'm a CTI man myself.
24mm: F51BS, F79SS
29mm: F59WT, G83BS, G88SS, H87IM, and H133BS. the H133 is a fantastic cert motor.
38mm: H120R, I195R, J316P
54mm: K500R, K740CS

(I don't usually have a long stock of 38mm or 54mm, but I keep most everything else at hand.)

I'm an AT guy also and love those Redline motors, but the J825 is my current favorite!!

I like to keep a stash of 13mm motors, for small parks and fields.
B6-4 (ditto)
D12
E18 (24/40 white lightning reload) - lots of fun, and very economical
F67/G74
Regressive burn motors like the G25 or G33
H238 - awesome acceleration from Blue Thunder
And any motor I haven't launched yet, new ones are fun.

Based on what I've read here, I'm staying away from any Estes E motor.

I fly a lot of AT G75 Metalstorm single use motors, and the H115 Dark matter. In 38's it's H178 Dark matter and the I59 longburn. 54's are K456 DM and the CTI L935 Imax. My favorite 75mm is the AT M1550 Redline, and all time favorite is the 98mm N2220 Dark Matter.

AeroTech 18mm E25
AeroTech 29mm G80 Fast White Lightning
Apogee 29mm F10
Rocketflite 38mm H220 Silver Streak
Ellis Mountain 29mm I69
Kosdon (by Kosdon) 38mm J975
RATTwork 66mm K240 hybrid

CTI C-Stars, AT K1103x, and anything big and sparky. Loud counts for a lot, too... that pretty much means all M motors.

I am mainly a Loki fanboy but fly all three, so here are my three favourites from all three.

Loki J-474 Loki Cocktail (1 in inventory)
Loki K-830 Spitfire (2 in inventory) (apparently I am the number one consumer of this load lol)
Loki L-1400 Loki White (1 in inventory)

CTI E75 Vmax (RIP, 1 in inventory)
CTI G80 Skidmark (2 in inventory)
CTI H410 Vmax (RIP, 3 in inventory)

AT G104 Blue Thunder (1 in inventory)
AT I600 Redline (1 in inventory)
AT K1103 Propellant X (none in inventory, but I just reread the OPs post and now I know what I want from Wildman's BF sale)

Paul, I am starting to wonder if you are on commission!

haha, No.. (Although we* did a get a fairly good deal on a massive 54mm case from Tim.. at the campgrounds during URRF6, and after a few wobbly pops! :D :D he pulled it right out of his camper: " Here you go, fly it tomorrow..")

No, we do a massive group / club order from Tim every year. A club mate (US side) holds our motors for us.. And since we fly in the US, it only makes sense. I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything, or if I'm in a majority / minority when it comes to favorites..

* I've been flying with my best friend for the better part of 40 years! We go to NYPower and/or URRF, and NSL / LDRS when local, together. 'We' share the purchases and some cases.. I believe we now have 2 CTI cases, but we are pretty well getting stocked up on AT cases at the moment..

Loki H144 - probably the loudest white in that size
AT I170G - 1 grain 54mm Mojave Green! What's not to love?

These of course aren't the only two I fly, I try to keep 29mm and 38mm Gs on hand in case I don't get to fly anything big.
And always a variety of Estes BP motors so the Gremlin and I can fly small stuff here at home.

G64W, excellent noise and smoke for the price

H128W, more than just a good L1 cert motor

I280DM/I327DM, impressive sparky at a reasonable cost

K2050ST, crowd pleaser

L850W, good noise, good burn time

Favorites in commercial motors? Gotta be the sparkies. Throaty as hell. Loud, rippin', poppin'... Oh yeah!

Other than those, I prefer Rx.

Sadly, I don't get to fly enough to develop favorites. I do want to put more up on Q-Jet D16s (flown a couple) and Apogee F10s (yet to fly one).

Big fan of the CTI C-Star, White Thunder and Dual Thrust.

L940DT, L910CS, K740CS, M3100WT, N5600WT is an awesome motor.

I'm a mostly LPR guy who flies some MPR. If you look at the motor I've used the most of in, say, the last year, I'd have to probably say Estes "B6-4 or C6-5". But, in the spirit of the question I think I would say:

Q-Jet C12 - so much more performance than an Estes C6 in the same model
Estes D12
Estes E16 and F15 - love the long burns
Cesaroni Smoky Sams and Blue Streaks (I've only ever flown 29mm CTI motors)
Aerotech 24/40RC E6 (for my Dynasoar rocket glider)
Aerotech 24/40 E28 and F39 Blue Thunder loads

I keep almost all the 13, 18, 24 and 29mm Estes motors on hand (including some OOP types) as well as Q-Jet C12s and D16s. Right now I need to restock my 29mm CTIs and only have one E6RC load on hand.

I have some 29/40-120 reloads but haven't yet flown them so don't know where they will end up on the "favorites" list.

Bernard,

If you like the CTI 29mm loads I would highly recommend getting their 2G Case and 1 spacer. With that alone will allow you to fly 14 different G's, out of that lot I really like the G68WH and the G126WT both excellent motors.

Yes, and did so with a Leviathan. My first CTI case was the L1 cert special - a 3-grain 29mm case and two spacers so I can fly 1 and 2 grain loads as well. I flew a couple more 3-grain baby Hs at TCR's Sod Blaster in September (including the 3-grain Blue Streak).

I also have 1, 2 and 6-grain cases, though the 6-grain one has yet to be used. I don't have a model (or flying site) suitable for using it.

Here's a great pic of the AT M1550RL in my Scratch built 6" HELLFIRE, Rocketry Warehouse was selling the 4" version I did for them.
