1:100 scale Mercury Redstone

Boyce Aerospace just released a builders kit for the Mercury Redstone using a BT16 body tube think will look nice next to the Estes Saturn V.
Flys on a 13mm motor
Full vinyl body wrap with roll pattern
Now I just need someone to make a Gemini Titan in 1:100 to complete an awesome flying display

The Boyce kit is just under 10" long. And just under $20.
I may pick one up.
Waiting to see what the 1/100 Mercury Atlas is gonna be like and the price point.
I think the MR will be dwarfed next to the Sat. V.!

Yes but will look awesome displayed in the same scale.
I emailed Boyce and said they need to work on a Gemini Titan in 1:100 so all three rockets that took us to the moon can be flown and displayed together.

Boyce responded to my email.
Says their Mercury Atlas will be released very soon.
Then a Mercury Titan will be the next in the works.

Another scale perspective. AMT's "Man in Space" model set. The MR is on the bottom left. Do you see it? Do you need a magnifying glass? Looks like a matchstick next to the Sat. V. Heck, the diameter of the F1 bell nozzle is larger than the MR.

PS Maybe one day I'll finish painting and decaling the two Saturns.

And, then down to the Shuttle, wallowing in Low Earth Orbit for three decades, culminating in zero "man-rated" launch vehicles . . . Disgraceful !

I seem to remember someone making experimental 13mm composite motors, maybe even selling some. Let me do some digging.

Definitely getting this one. I have the Boyce Honest John and love it.

The Redstone is puny compared to the Saturn but will look great on my fireplace next to it

Details:
There are some unique build features in this kit.
2 paper clips and a safety pin are included.

The ends of the paper clip are cut off and glued into dimples in the fin can.
These launch guides replace the traditional launch lug.
The safety pin is cut and formed into a hook for the shock cord.
It also serves to act as a thrust ring for the motor.

The scale fins occlude the opening from the bottom.
So the motor must be loaded from the top of the can.
Therefore the body tube is not glued to the fin can.
The can is taped to the body tube at launch.

When I ordered the bt-19 tube from erockets I ordered a second one with a balsa bt-19 Mercury capsule nose cone.
Here's a dry fit side by side.
Will do a scratcher MR from traditional balsa/paper alongside the Boyce 3D model.

Here's the same capsule for an 18mm build about five years ago.
Thin strips cut from electrical tape simulate the trusswork.

The body wrap vinyl decal looks awesome.
Will scan and print on decal paper for the scratcher.
