It does look goonie-ish doesn't it? But technically, no. Goonys are bt-60 based.

I finished a Fatboy a month or two ago. Painted same as the packaging. Waiting for the rain to come so I can fly it.

Small local park. Parks and Rec. has about 5 or 6 approved fields for model rocketry. Good for low to mid power only.
We used to have occasional access to a defunct military airstrip for high power launches. No more.
Anyway, here's a street view from Google Maps. Ocean on one side, highway and brushland on the other side. We only launch in calm winds.

Designing a Space X Starship for two stages. Molded parts for scale accuracy. Putting decals on my Dyna Soar Clipper. Ordered a YF-12 from Frank.

I have been working in Openrocket but it has its limitations. Originally I was planning a two stage but the problems increase and the only way to keep it scale would mean a staging timer. My thinking now is just to do the Starship alone for starters. If I decide the kit it, it would be more practical from a cost standpoint. Also the Starship would not need clear plastic fins. It's stable without them.

I can master the fins to be accurate to the actual ship and mold them and produce resin copies. Even the nose cone would be resine with a vacuum formed insert for the clear windows. I've done this all before with the kits I did 10 years ago. I'm thinking about it.

Very rough out in Openrocket. When I added the clear plastic fins the stability was fine, really good in fact. Lots to consider.

Selecting rockets and motors.
Packing chutes and wadding.
Packing launch hardware in the trunk.

I will share competition pictures very soon... we had about 11 teams competing from the local Houston area. Each team including ours shot a total of 13 engines ranging from 1/2 A to G engines. Wind and temps were nice today we had 12 mph wind from the SE and the temp ranged mid 80s. Apparently rules were changed during the comp. I had to clarify with the RSO that 6" parachutes were on the rules but the RSO changed that to 12". I was kinda mad at him for that, but we adjusted. We had a total of 8 people in our group. The Comp started at 9:00 am and finished around 12:30 pm.. Overall we Placed 5th and took home 2 1st places trophies

Since somebody requested it, some pictures of the test prints for test fits for the Aero-Pad. This was supposed to be Fun Rockets knockoff of the Estes pad. Except I pushed for some more pure form inspired by Apple and Bauhaus. Plus I combined several parts into two parts that could hopefully be made with just two-piece molds. It all got Fishmanned anyway.....


Plus what the final thing is supposed to look like.
