That was my understanding. But then folks started talking about seeing it fly and I got confused
 
First off The KloudBusters are putting on one heck of a show! The amount of work they’ve done is nothing short of incredible.

The KloudBusters did clear the flight for LDRS with certain very reasonable conditions. However with motor master Pat G temporarily being a wuss I decided to hold off until he can participate. Rockets need motors and without Pat’s supervision launching wasn’t a smart move.

Again LDRS 38 is a blast! What a great turnout. Very pleased with The KloudBusters.

Hey Fred. That sentence was probably poorly stated. I think it's just a thin ring bonded to the airframe behind the fin can to ensure the fin can doesn't slide off the back. It already has set screws in shear, but Chuck is going for a belt and suspenders route.

I would agree with that Mike.

By the way your fin can is a major hit at LDRS 38.

Ok this rocket will fly. Anyone know the altitude waiver for LDRS 39 out there on the Bonneville Salt Flats?

Talk about a totally cool place to fly.

Going to finish up a few things on the current rocket and then work on creating a couple of R motors.

Got (2) 10 ft casings and a bunch of liners and casting sleeves. Pat G looks like he’s done with nappy-time so soon enough we can work together to get some big motors tested. FyreChaser here on the forum is also instrumental in getting this work done.

Nice to have the current rocket almost ready for flight. The work that’s left is fun and will give me something to do.

You all really helped a bunch with this project and it’s appreciated. Lots of praise at LDRS.

Chuck I think Steve said the waiver was something like 12k with call ins to 20k but they were working on getting the call ins higher.
 
We had a call in to 22.5k ft at Hellfire 22 for a university project a few years back. It was an L1 multistage, learned a lot from that experience. Dunno what their max waiver is but the landscape sure would support way more. Sun poisoning is real out there. Re apply sunscreen.
 
Chuck, the standing waiver on the Salt Flats is 10,000 feet AGL with call ins to 25,000. That’s probably not enough for that rocket. We talked briefly at LDRS. It’s a beautiful rocket.

Everyone I had a blast meeting you all at LDRS. It was fun to just show and tell the rocket!

William let’s look at an AeroPAC launch in the Black Rock. This rocket is destined to fly there.

Again guys thanks for the kind words. It’s amazing how well we rocketeers get along. Learned even more just listening to the inputs at LDRS.

Chuck, My apologies, but in my pre-caffeine haze I was totally forgetting that AEROPAC launches are only Class 2 wavered for motor impulse and I was only considering altitude limits for our waiver. Historically those who have flown Class 3 motors at our launches had their own FAA waiver. Sorry for the confusion.

The AEROPAC waiver covers up to an impulse of 40,960 Newton-seconds though we can coordinate with a flyer who gets a class-3 FAA waiver.
Standing waiver is 60,000 feet. This year we have morning 2 hour windows to 250,000 feet every launch day but you must recover within a 10 nautical mile radius.
Launch hours are 7am to 10pm. We can have night launches each night if there are night flyers.
Launch schedule is on aeropac.org

William no worries. I make so many mistakes it’s not funny.

Looks like Jim Green has posted some good info on what a Class 3 flyer can do.

Going to be at Black Rock on the 19th without rocket lol.

But get to help on Ken Overton’s “P” launch which should be pretty cool.

In Winnemucca, NV. Been held up in this area for several days lol. Will talk the R project once I get home... some day.

Chuck, my son Ryan and myself are also assisting Ken on his P project.

Should be fun and it defiantly won't be any problem chasing the rocket with your 4W Big Wheel Truck and my Jeep :) Looking forward to Q time with all.
