You're coming, Jeb???! See you there! We got some catchin up to doOh man can't wait.
I know it's to far to count it as 100% but the two week forecast for Argonia is showing high eighties to low nineties. Compared to what we have been getting here in Texas that is going to be some great weather.

A couple of answers to questions we are getting asked frequently ... If you want to make a NAR certification you must arrange for forms and required witness(es) on your own.
Right from the Tripoli Research Safety Code:What is the policy on flying de-certified motors at the pasture? Have some G55's I'd love to have fun with, but want to make sure it's OK before I dig 'em out and bring them.
Eric,Not arguing with Bob, Mike, or myself. Just offering my thoughts and my understanding (having flown a lot of "expired" motors over the years).
If I'm not mistaken, Aerotech G55's are "expired motors" verses "decertified motors". IE: Aerotech no longer manufactures the 24mm G55, therefore didn't resubmit for re-certification when it was time to do so, and therefore, after the burn period lapsed, the G55 became an expired motor.
TRA Research code distinguishes between the two and later condones the use of Expired Motors in 7.4:
3.2.2.2. Expired Motor. Any previously certified motor, for which its certification has expired.
3.2.2.3. Decertified Motor. These motors have been decertified by the Tripoli Motor Testing (TMT), NAR Standards and Testing (S&T), or CAR Motor Certification Committee. These motors may NOT be used.
7.4. Approved Motors
7.4.1. Research Motors, Certified Motors, Expired Certified Motors and Commercial Motors Approved for Research Use Only shall be allowed at a Tripoli Research Launches.
There have been a few motors that were decertified over the years for safety reasons. Ones that come to mind are the Estes 24mm E15, 18mm C5 (with date codes of X, Y...or something like that), Aerotech J1999N, Ellis K400, etc.
A high power example of expired motors would by the classic AMW loads....IE Paul Robinson and co. prior to the AMW/Pro-X collaboration. Though the certification of the classic loads has lapsed, they are still okay to fly at Tripoli Research launches.
....at least that's always been my understanding. If it's de-certified for safety reasons, it's never okay to fly at any launch, on any range, TRA, NAR, or CAR. If it's just "old" and no longer manufactured, but once was certified and is no longer, it's okay to use under the TRA Research code. To that note...it would be nice if there was a comprehensive list of decertified motors somewhere.

Eric,
There is a combined (TRA, NAR, CAR) motor list on the website. Located here (It is listed on the Tripoli Motor Testing Committe page: https://www.nar.org/SandT/pdf/CombinedMotorsByImpulse.pdf
It lists the G55.
Is this the G55 you are speaking of?
Eric,
You are 100% correct! Mike mentioned they were decertified and I ran with it. I'm spending several hours a day answering questions and quite frankly didn't want to take the time to look up if this particular motor was expired or decertified.
Folks, let me answer a few of your questions here so that I won't have to do it again and again for the next 7 days. BTW, it 7 days because I leave for the Rocket Pasture on Tuesday morning and won't be checking emails on site. Can I? Yes! Will I? No. This is the answer to question 1 regarding telephone coverage. Cell phones work on the rocket pasture! With that said, may I suggest you put them away, watch some amazing flights and talk to the folks camped around you! You will get to know like minded folks from around the country and you don't have to type anything on a small screen with big fingers! Call it old school!
Question 2: Yes you can certify L1 or L2 at LDRS! Yes you can take the L2 test! Our club is set up to make this easy for you if you are a TRA member but there will be tons of NAR folks who will help you with this.
Question 3: Parking will be tight this LDRS! There will be room for everyone! No you cannot have one guy show up early and hold multiple campsites for your buddies that will show up later. This is unfair to the folks who follow right after you. If you and your buddies take up a lot of space, you will be asked to consolidate making sure there is space for everyone.
Question 4: If you are not a registered flyer, you will not be allowed to park/set up a camp on the Rocket Pasture. Being a member of either national organization doesn't count. This is to ensure there is space for every registered flyer on the rocket pasture. Non-registered folks are welcome to set up on the pasture north of 80th street. Registered flyers will be given a parking pass for their vehicles. Cars without passes will be asked to move. Please don't give the volunteer who has the crummy job of asking you to move your car any grief! He then comes back to me and complains! Fair warning, if I have to get involved there is a much better than even chance it won't end well! Just sayin!
Question 5: If you are over 18, you have to be a member of one of the two national organizations in order to fly a low power rocket. This is an insurance thing.
Question 6: you can bring any type of four wheeler you want and can ride it on the Rocket Pasture and any of the surrounding dirt roads. Stay out of the farmers fields! All of them regardless of what they look like!
Question 7: No you can't put an igniter in your motor in your camp including head end ignition. We will have a prep area away for the crowds out by the away RSO for you to safely do this. Fair warning, if you show up to RSO with an igniter in place, you will be turned away. Don't do this!
Question 8: we will be providing dumpsters and trash bins. We, however, are not sanitation workers! It's you responsibility to get you trash into the dumpsters. If you fill one of the small trash bins, go dump it! This will take less time than finding the correct one of us who then has to round up someone who isn't already overworked to take care of your problem. Thank you in advance for doing this! One more thing, there will not be an recycle containers on site. If this is something you want to do take it home with you and put it in your bins.
Folks, this LDRS is going to be 25% or so bigger than any event ever held at the Rocket Pasture. We believe we have procedures in place to deal with 99.99% of what may come up. For the 0.01%, bear with us as we work through how to best handle it. If something needs to be addressed, find one of the volunteers in a blue vest. We will try to rectify the situation.
Our goal is everyone enjoys their experience and no one gets hurt. We need your help in meeting these goals. Please be sure what you are doing is safe! We processed over 1,370,000' of high altitude requests! This should be a great time! See you there!
Bob Brown
Launch Director, LDRS 38

but physicist Michio Kaku recently told CBS News that it is actually “way overdue”…

Notice the bolded does not say geologist. That says all I need to know about the credibility of that article.
However, if it knocks a beer off of the table there will be hell to pay!Good feature of The Rocket Pasture, nothing to fall on a person during an earthquake.
Ouch!(if caps are metal they must be painted)
