I currently use the app Windy to get wind forecasts in advance of rocket launches, but the app is built for "high wind sports" and I generally don't like the layout of the app. Does anyone have an app they would recommend for getting accurate wind condition forecasts?

I agree that the app as it shows on my phone is not the easiest to use; I sometimes get to the screen and set-up I want but I have no idea how I got there or how to get back.
However, the website on a laptop or desktop computer is fantastic. I find it very useful as wind direction at various altitudes is so important to know. Also, the Meteogram selection showing the cloud deck helps keep us out of the clouds.

If anyone has a better app for the phones, though, I'd love to try it out, too.

I use https://www.wunderground.com
Weather Underground

Their hourly forecasts are absurdly accurate. Reason: They use NWS data PLUS actual weather station data from local sources to further refine the very local forecasts.

I like the Windy App, especially the winds at elevation. Pretty accurate.

If you don't like the layout, then you will hate Weather Underground. Sensory overload, full of annoying ads. If I join, will the ads go away? Also, WU is crowd-sourced, so any schmuck can post his personal weather station data. I'm not sure I can trust "Phil's Weather Station in Green Oaks Subdivision." I always seek out the nearest airport location.

I used to like WU because it showed cloud ceiling on the front page, but no more. Nor can I find winds aloft like Windy. WU has gone downhill in usefulness, IMO.
