Something from an amusement park ride, maybe?

There's actually three of them for sale.

And yes, it looks like Nytrunner has it id'd.

Looks like a missile with a biconic nosecone. Cant really venture to say more than that from the looks of it

Guarantee you its condition isnt "used" like the listing says hehehe.

I am very curious how a junk dealer came to have 3 of them in his hands....

Is sure looks like a MX or Peacekeeper but the size if wrong.

I found that it is a ground-based interceptor missile. You can google that and look at the images but I didn't see a page that really got into the nuts and bolts of this particular missile. Apparently there are different ground-based interceptor missiles...

Looks to be the US GBD (Ground Based Missle Defense) Interceptor missle, interesting that parts for something in current service would be "available" for purchase, maybe the NC's are older prototype leftovers.
Scale "looks" about right. Any idea what that might be?

Perhaps the nosecones are rejects, or wrong material mock-ups.

That was my thought too.

Many (many, many) moons ago Atlas boosters were built in San Diego by General Dynamics/Convair. There was a big scrap metal recycling yard just off the highway and you would occasionally see a rejected Atlas airframe sitting out back. As a space geek kid in the early seventies it was pretty exciting stuff!

If these are really titanium and they weigh 324 pounds each half, then at $30 a pound they ought to scrap for near $19,000 dollars. Even if its 324 pounds for ther hwole thing that would swcrap out at near $9000 and they're only asking $1400. I think that either they are NOT titanium, the scrap price for titanium has dropped to next to nothing, or the amount of titanium in them is very, very low.

But they do look great! And they have three of them!

Anybody got any 48" diameter fiberglass tubing?

Yup, at least one of the pics shows some internal bracing of some sort and the tip at least "appears" to be of a different alloy. Scrap dealers have a tendency to know current values..Even though they appear to be a bit crude, I would like to see 'em.

I checked the scrap pricing too (pretty much immediately).
Current pricing is actually 35 CENTS a pound. And that must be "Must be analyzed and be free of attachments.".

I have seen some older pricing that was substantially higher, but that was for "commercially pure" grade titanium.....very unlikely for this stuff.

So, no big cashout to be had here.
