I signed up for all three, It would make me so happy if they bring out the models, then I could use them to historically show my class how the Apollo mission came to be. I think my favorite of the the three is Mercury Atlas, that chrome finish makes me giddy, I dont know how we are going to get the same finish but Ill figure it out

The Masters Series Merc-Atlas includes a chrome-y trim that's applied to the tank and transition.

That'll be a joyful exercise of patience when I get around to it.

I love these rockets (especially the 1B) and yet can't muster up even the slightest bit of motivation to build one. Sincerely wish I could understand why.

Because these rockets are worthy of our love as historical artifacts and models/recreations of such artifacts. But as cool looking builds and flyers? Meh!

For some people, modeling the history is the point, or a part of it. And somewhere inside I get that. It'd certainly be cool, if interested in building historical recreations, to build them with motor mounts and watch them fly. I get that, but don't feel it.

I also get that for very good practical reasons they had to be less than exciting designs aesthetically. If they'd had big ring tails, helical outrigger panels, or elliptical cross sections they'd never have done their jobs. Those sorts of things are cool big-boy toys, but usually are poor engineering.

And yes, not everyone will agree that they're less than exciting aesthetically, as excitement is in the eye of the beholder.

So, space launch vehicles are one sort of thing and exciting model builds are another, and for the likes of you and me those things are only as close as cousins.

Obviously there is interest from the "building history" arm of the hobby, and I hope Estes brings these back for yall's sake. I just don't think I'll be buying any. Probably not. I think.
