I’m very sorry to hear this. Although I never met him in person I spoke to him a few times on the phone. I was just thinking I needed to call him again and see how he was doing. I’m sorry I didn’t.

I am sorry to hear this. I didn't know Gary personally, but his posts here were unfailingly (a) informative, (b) funny, or (c) both.

Sad. Never met him but he built some pretty cool rockets. He’ll be missed.

Very sad. RIP Gary. The community will miss your truly revolutionary designs and build threads.

A few times I thought I would have to duck, but they always flew straight.

Well, that sucks! I never met Gary, but his posts were often interesting and amusing. I knew from one of his posts that he was having some health issues, but he seemed optomistic...things always seem to happen so fast. My thoughts go out to his family.

Gary will be missed. Many of us have admired his beautifully designed rockets and enjoyed his quirky sense of humor.

Rest In Peace, Gary.

I have long lusted after and admired Gary's beautiful rockets. He actually renamed one "The Decapitator" after I kept calling it by this name on the field with each press of the button. Not only was Gary a fantastic artist (yes his rockets WERE art), but a good friend and fellow rocketeer.

My only regret was not calling him last week when I thought of him. I know I will dearly miss hearing his responses back to my kidding remarks and mine at his. I will miss him and his absolutely unique character and artistry.

Rest in Peace my friend! Fly High, Fly Fast, Fly Safe!

That's a bummer. R.I.P. Mr Gary Byrum. Everytime I launch Wavy Gravy, it will be in memory of you. That's one crazy BNC you turned for that bird.

That's very sad news. I learned a lot of creative sim approximation from him.

Best wishes to his family and near friends :(

Is this Johnny?

Rest In Peace Gary!

He was definitely a Pillar on this forum, with a combination of great imagination and building skills, and a great sense of humor.

I am so saddened by this news. I've known Gary for a long time and it was always a great pleasure meeting him and having a joy watching his great and unique builds at rocket events. His sense of humor always gave me a smile.
I was so much looking forward to meeting him again at the upcoming Freedom Launch Fall event.

You will be missed my friend.....

Holy crap..just spoke the other day. He was planning on coming to my place for a few days of R & R. I knew he was sick but he never let on it was this bad.
He wanted me to find him some prawns to take back home.
He was a hoot to poke fun with & I loved his wacky rockets.

R.I.P. you ole curmudgeon ! Cause I know the devil don't want ya....

Thnx for posting.

Jim,

He told me about your plans. You see, he never understood how dire his situation was. That is why I knew I had to get up to see him in NC while he was still viable. I'm relieved he went quickly (a sudden hemorrhage) , rather than the long painful road I was afraid he was on.

Not only have I lost a life-long friend, but I have lost a chunk of my own history. He was the last person I knew from my childhood.

I am to inherit his rocketry stuff. If there is a particular favorite rocket of his that you would like as a memento, please let know.

Sorry to hear this, he was one of the best constants around here. Sorry for you in the loss of your friend LW.

I am hurting for you, LW. Though we all will miss him and his humor, our loss is insignificant compared to yours. I wish you peace and comfort at this time.

We typed back and forth a while ago..
I knew from his posts he had some health issues, but I didn't know they were serious..
Rest in Peace Gary..
My prayers go out to you and yours..
LW,,
I am so sorry for you..
Please take solace that he's at peace now..
I just wish I had some magic words for you now,
but they fail me..
I am truly sorry..
