Chatted with the store manager he said HL will continue to carry Estes products, but is reducing stock to make room for items that better align with Estes new catalog and branding

I got off the NCED campus and out of the hotel room for the first time since Sunday night to check out the Norman and Moore Hobbylobbys. My feel is that they're just burning off slow and less popular sellers, like D12-0, B6-2, C6-0, and 1/2A3-2T packs which were the only engines red tagged in the $2.79 and $2.99 range. I did buy out all their red tagged engines. The B6-0s are for flying saucer flights over the next season or three. The 1/2As are for the little rockets that I'm planning on flying in a small field for the rest of the season. I got a half price Citation Patriot because I never got around to getting one when I was a kid in the kids. Didn't the original version have a baffle? I also got a couple $1.99 Star Troopers and $2.79 Vikings because Centuri.

While I was out, I also stopped at the Norman Hobbytown, Walmart, and I ate at Whattaburger. This was my first time eating at Whattaburger. I thought that it was a Texas regional franchise? Maybe this is a northern outpost....

I'll see if any red tag stuff is left in Omaha after I get back up there in a week.

Thanks for posting the sale, I cleaned out the Moline, IL HL no kits on sale but bought all the Fs and couple other odds and ends

Picked up one of these too, snap together, figured what the hell, for 4.79 why not... went together in about 10 minutes... figure it’ll be s good rocket to test some older motors I found in my range box...

That is exactly what I saw at my local Hobby Lobby and they had more than just rocket stuff at 75% off.
Scored an artist's easel for 30 bucks and saw they had the Iwata Smert Jet compressor at $111 that I would have bought
except I have a 7.5hp one in the shop and a smaller HF one with a small tank already.
Looking in this very forum I see they did a clearance sale at many of them last year....

Some Hobby Lobbies are closing completely. Mine did close to me. Such a bummer. Others are still open, but I have to travel nearly 10 miles now to get there as opposed to just 2. Visited one in another country and scored a Star Orbiter fo a little over $5.

I visited a Hobby Lobby yesterday. The one that's about 4.3 miles from my house. The one that was .72 miles from my house closed for good several months ago. Anyway, I saw orange/red clearance tags all over the store, not just on model rockets. Only thing red tagged there were the booster motors and B6-2s. The other rocketry related stuff were yellow-tagged. At this store, that means no 40% off the sale price. YMMV
I know, I'll start another rumor: HOBBY LOBBY IS GOING AWAY FOR GOOD ! ;):D:cool:

Reminds me of the Hobby Lobby on north 90th Street in Omaha that's now closed. Apparently the owner discovered they could greatly increase their ROI by straight out selling the property to WalMart. I feel modestly bad about missing out on that going out of business sale. It's also a modest shame since it was on one of my routes out the Omahawks flying field. Along with Harbor Freight, a few car parts and hardware stores, Thrift America, Popeye's, and once upon a time DITcorp on the same street.

I can attest that in North Florida that there was no clearance specials on Model Rockets.
West Central Fla. had the sale.......I emptied the isle that had rockets and engines.....including 3 Majestics for 12.50 each.

...And the year before that ... and the year before that ... and the year before that ... and the year before that ... and the year before that ... and the year before that... and the year before that ... and the year before that ...

I remember one of my first visits to HL and they were clearing Quest and Aerotech kits.

Great flyer, lots of these show up at our club launches. Keep an eye on the motor retaining cap, we have many of those in our lost and found box. A little masking tape to hold in place for a little insurance.

Standing in HL Right now.

Orange tag = discontinued

Yellow tag = NOT DISCONTINUED, but the new lower price will not allow use of 40% off coupon. Yellow is in the 30% off range from MSRP.

New items will replace discontinued items.

By the way, the info I posted was a result of talking to the employee who stocks the department.

My HL has never had a great rocket stock but picked up several motor packs and an Alpha IV for the kiddo

Talking about Hobby Lobby, what art board do they have that comes closest to mimicking the cardboard in old Centuri kits like Evel Knievel or the Super Fleet?

Good tip, was wondering about that, seems in general a lot sturdier than I was expecting for a snap together model, got s d16 just waiting to see it go, haven’t been brave enough to fly one of those in my builder rockets

Our HL had sonic ignitors, 29mm motors, and several kits for sale. Paid $46, saved about $105 or so.

All the kits had manufacture dates of early 2017. It does look like clearing old stock.

Called my store again, and the lady at least said she saw the paperwork for the sale but had not been told yet by her manager to do so. The Sheeple must always be subordinate to the higher class of humans ( who are also nothing but Debt Slaves themselves ).

I called the Lynnwood, WA store and they could not say when the items would be marked for clearance, other than "soon," like they were not allowed to tell me. Issaquah, WA store said all the items that had been marked for clearance were gone already, but they may still get truck deliveries with more of those same clearance items still in transit, so I will check back again. I will keep calling them rather than waste a trip. I would most likely stock up on engines 29mm and 24mm and a Majestic if they still have one.

So when I went to my local Hobby Lobby all I saw was clearance tags and I bought what I wanted. I went back yesterday because I thought maybe there were some "discontinued" items still in the pipeline so I wanted to make sure nothing else had come in since my last trip om Saturday.

No new "discontinued" items had arrived but I did notice that now there were "reduced" tags on several items, including a Nike X that had just come in. It was hard to leave it there, but I already have one that I bought for less with the 40% off coupon. There were also some 24mm "E" motors (E12-4 and -6s) on reduction as well. I left them too as I don't have a rocket for them and they weren't that great of a deal.

Hobie, I say this all the time. Most people are sheep. I'm a German Shepherd. I find that sometimes people are taken aback when I ask "why" because they are just use to people saying "how high?".

....or they're employable BECAUSE they realize that they have a boss and can actually follow instructions. They're just as human as you and me, and everyone starts somewhere, just like the kids that are working the location near me this summer. Denigrating them for following instructions and not having marked down your favorite toy rocket parts in a time frame that you demand is uncalled for.

Ask yourself this: If you were to employ entry level minimum wage non-subject matter expert clerks, would YOU want them deciding what and when YOUR stock went on sale, and for what price? NO? Yeah, that would probably mess up your financial plan.

Once again, to be clear;

Orange tags = discontinued. Estes still makes them, but Hobby Lobby will not carry them after they are gone. They will be replaced with something else.

Yellow tags = New normal discount pricing. All items will be restocked. Buy them all, in a week they will be back and still discounted. No 40% off anymore for anything Estes at hobby Lobby. New discount price is the everyday price.
