After a hectic day with the STEM career day I spent the day at the Space Expo hosted by the New England Air Museum (a great place!)

CATO was also there with a large booth set up in another building. This event has been going on for a few years now and gets bigger each year. This year we had nearly 1200 people come through from 10am - 4:30 pm

I had a booth set up in the center of the main exhibit building with other booths around the perimeter. My booth was adjacent to the Lockheed/Martin table, Dr. Flush (space toilets) and Astronaut Cady Coleman.

The main frustration was that Cady and I were both so busy that we barely got to exchange "hello's". I didn't even have time to chat with her or get an autograph on my Rhino autograph rocket... :(

Here's a picture of my booth before the day opened.

The 2nd picture is the view I had of the only missile that I could see... :D

It was a VERY busy day, but a good one with LOT's of good educational contacts. I was there representing FlisKits as well as IGNITE. Got to see most of my IGNITE friends as well, which is good.

Now to get back to that backlog.... :)

That's great Jim! When RangerStL and I were up there for NARCON we saw the tables laid out with your name on them. What a great opportunity!

I *thought* I had heard that you went to NEAM while at NARCON and wanted to see what you thought. Great place, isn't it? :)

The IGNITE Foundation (now the IGNITE Group) was instrumental in getting that expo formed a few years ago and it's gotten bigger every year. This being the first year we were displaying booths in two buildings (connected), many folks had issue being in the 2nd building as they felt that they were being kept away from all the activity.

However, NEAM arranged with the local Civil Air Patrol to have their cadets act as guides to make sure that everyone knew what was where and would actually escort them from one area to the next. (they also served as booth helpers when you needed to take a break)

The CAP were simply great and everyone running a booth (both buildings) were amazed at the traffic to their booth.

It was an exhausting day, that's for sure!

Yes, the B-25, B-29, and the Flying Tigers exhibits were my favorites.

You know, speaking of CAP, I've never figured out why they don't have more rocketry-type activities. It's allowed in their squadron designations.

While at the National Science Teachers Association Convention a couple years ago, I approached my local Squadrons with offers that we're never pursued, even after following up with them on several occasions.

Our local club has had some joint launches with the CAP, so I know at least some of them do.

I wish I knew. I have had very little success with getting the CAP into rocketry. Scouts and 4-H have always been very big on the subject though...
