Stoked!!! Grains are cast, practiced putting up the tent, and the car is packed (including the cookie pizza, Teddy.) Hitting the road first thing tomorrow and heading for Country Charm (with a stop by the field to see if there's anything that needs doing.)
Should be a wicked good weekend!!

I am probably just going to male it out for Saturday and Sunday. I am hoping to find a little room to camp at CC. Really looking forward to this launch and just enjoying the weekend.

We'll be on our way there after a quick stop at the VA....if there is such a thing..

Made it. My normal 4 hour drive turned into 6.5. there was a bad accident on the QEW Hwy, just before the US.
They closed the Hwy and had to redirect. It looked like one of those three wheel motorcycles, or some really skinny car, with a blanket over the spot where the driver would be. Whatever it was it was smashed up pretty good and it didn't look like a good end for the driver. Now back to charging LiPos in the hotel room.

Looking forward to being at a URRF again after missing a few years. Not sure if I be flying anything. But I would like to meet up with old friends and do some range duty.

Wondering if it too late to be able to camp at Country Charm?

Cheers

In Penn Yan, and the rain has stopped, for now. The forecast is looking fantastic for the launch! Friday morning is the only concern, and only if it rains too much, otherize the field should dry-out quickly. This is shaping up to be one of the nicest URRFs in a long time. I and super excited!

Attention all flyers,
We received a decent amount of rain here in Penn Yan last night, and this morning. Due to the amount of rain we may experience a delay in starting our event tomorrow. At the moment, vehicles can not access the field due to the conditions. We will be assessing the field this evening and will respond with an update by 9:30 pm tonight. We are already in the process of making parking arrangements, should there be a delay tomorrow morning. The field itself is typically good two hours after a storm, it is the entry road in that is slick not accessible at the moment

Any questions you are free to reach me on my cell phone. 315-542-2764 or via e-mail [email protected]

URRF 6 update.

We reassessed the field this evening with the local contractor who recently repaired the road for the club. Due to the recent amount of rain and current condition of the road in we are going to delay entrance to the field to 1 pm tomorrow. The access road will open at 1 pm. At that time you can enter the event and begin set up.

We want to ensure all of our members, flyers, vendors, and spectators are able to get in and out of the field safely and not have to dig your vehicle out of the mud.

Once the field dries we are sure this is going to be a fantastic event.

Should anything change we will send out updates via email and social media. So please keep an eye on all platforms for updates.

We apologize for the delay and we thank you for your patience!

Any questions, please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Thank you for the update! Never been to a launch before and planning to drive from Binghamton as a spectator with my wife and son, with the field opening later can anyone estimate how long setting up might take before launches?

Local weather just said sunny at 6am tomorrow and clear all weekend! Probably an hour or two till people fly rockets after they hit the field.

Field will be set up at 1. Likely will take an hour or so for the flight line to get up to full speed with full racks of rockets

URRF 6 update. CANCELLED FOR FRIDAY

We just finished an assessment of the field with the local road contractor, and farmer. We received a lot of additional rain last night beyond what was expected. Due to the weather and road conditions we are cancelling for today. And only today at this time.

Due today's cancelation "the field is closed to any/all traffic".

At this point we are hopeful for normal start time tomorrow and will send out a formal update at 3 pm today.

We apologize for this delay and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Any questions you are welcome to call me on my cell phone or respond via email to [email protected].

Thank you,

Jerry Briggs

WE ARE A GO FOR SATURDAY

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding as we waited for field conditions to improve.

By giving the farm land and road time to dry up we expect to have excellent field conditions for the reminder of the event.

To help with set up time we are going to open the field for access at 6 am tomorrow.

Flyers meeting will be at 845 am sharp and will open the flight line at 9 am sharp.

We look forward to seeing you all in the morning and we thank your for your patience.

Any questions please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Another day spent patiently waiting... No worries though, we got to spend the day with some animals at the Farm Sanctuary.IMG_1561153336.990847.jpg

URRF 6 flyers, members, and spectators,we have a featured flight update and a must see event!
Tomorrow morning between 9-9:30 AM, Rick Comshaw, a URRG Club member is flying a very special rocket, a Wildman 8" round 12 FT tall Jumbo Dark Star Rocket. This is one of three Jumbo Dark Star Rockets ever produced.

This rocket is set to take off on a massive 98 MM 09700 Motor. Projected flight is 16,000 feet at Mach 1 right off the pad! Yes, Mach 1 right from take off!! As soon as the rocket passes 100 feet above the pad it will exceed Mach 2! Which is will be about 1,504 miles per hour.

This is not a flight you will want to miss!

Well see you all in the morning!

I am going to have to make sure I get an early start tomorrow. There is no way I want to miss this!!! What a way to start the Launch.

Saturday was friggin amazing. The field dried out and was perfect for walking and driving around. The flying was fantastic. I got 3 up myself and helped with a MEGA. The sun was out, cool weather, no clouds, light breeze... The best you can do. ..
And we're looking better for tomorrow! URRG puts on a heck of a show, Holy cow. Get here tomorrow if you're not already here

I will try to post some tonight from Saturday, I haven't had a chance to process them yet but I can just share the raw photos. Is a google drive link ok?

Okay... was able to launch Big Shot on an O-3000. Due to high winds, weather cocked a bit. Main out at 11,385'. Nevertheless recovered 1 mile away, directly next to the farm entrance road. Still struggling with zippering the booster. Happened last year as well. Will change setup slightly next year, and boost on a GUBU Blue Moon O.... 3's a charm?LRG_DSC03404.JPGScreenshot_20190622-204017_Photos.jpeg
