That's right folks last years SodBlaster event was both a huge success and learning experience for TriCities Rocketeers/Tripoli Southeast Washington, so much so that we are doing it again this year. Labor Day Weekend is the weekend with flying all 4 days. More to follow as we finalize stuff.
This years motor theme is Rev it to the Redline-that's right red motors, be it Loki, AT, CTI, or research. All other motors are welcome of course.
This year we will actually have grass on the field, who'd a thunk that SodBlaster I would be sans sod!
We will also be adding M impulse motors to the field for the first time since we now have an away cell and PadZilla (which got initiated last weekend). Our rail selection is Micro, Mini, 1010 (up to 12'),1515 (up to 12'), and Unistrut (currently Unistrut is limited to 10' long), and rods from 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" (iirc). We will have 12 LPR pads, 8+ MPR pads, and 8+ HPR pads (pretty much like last year).
CONTESTS: All prizes are to be drawn from vendor/sponsor support.
Red Motor Challenge: (there will be a separate winner for each category)
Most Total Newtons Flown: aggregate of total impulse of all Red motors a rocketeer flies (please make sure your motors are correctly listed on flight cards so we can get the correct total impulse from the manufacturers data).
And
Most Spectacular Red Flight: The most awesome Red motor powered flight (a committee will determine the winner or we may use a group vote).

Big Daddy Structural Stress Test (formerly known as the Confetti Challenge):
The rocket is the Estes Big Daddy there will be two divisions a modified stock and unlimited. How big a motor can your Big Daddy survive (rocket has to be flyable again, and recover safely, to place for points). A flier may enter both contests if so desired.
Mod Stock class: All parts of the Estes Big Daddy kit are required to be used, the only modifications allowed are to replace the lunch lug with rail buttons, replacing the shock cord with kevlar, and up-sizing the motor mount to 29mm (cardboard rings must still be used), replacing the plastic chute with a nylon chute is permitted.
Unlimited: unlike the Mod Stock class....only the nose cone is required to be used, that being said the requirements for the rocket are it must look and have the same dimensions as a stock Big Daddy

, it does have to be returned in flyable condition. Got a feeling the rocket gods are going to be getting lots of offerings.
