Anyone care to put odds on it and or make a guess as to what it is?20190520_132440.jpg

Success! Certainly not pretty but appears to be functional. The recommended print settings called for almost 2 days of print time so I cheated it as far as I felt comfortable with. It's a digital sundial, know as a gnomon? very cool and the formula for designing it is insane. A very bright French gentleman came up with it. Can be found on Thingiverse..

I did a 170 hour print with nearly 1kg of filament at once. It took two try’s.

Oh wow, I never would have guessed that in a million years. But very cool. What is the time resolution, is it down to the minute? Does the mount work through the seasons? Or do you have to adjust in the winter and summer?

If you have a slicer that'll give you a section view it's pretty cool to see what's actually inside.

Almost forgot to mention, if you do print it as he's got the base designed for a "jelly jar" just be warned since he's in France they use a different jar format. I just used the base with "wings".

You can buy them from him printed out of ABS if you don't want to spend the time making one. I think they're $80 and for what he's got into designing it that's a steal. Here's an action video.
