I can't see reworking the motor mount (there is no tube, per se, just the aft sleeve for the screw-on retainer which also holds on the flight fin unit on and a boss or ring that the forward end of the motor fits into), motor retention and clear fin unit to get a C11 or D12 in it. MUCH simpler to just get some Q-Jet Cs or Ds.

Is it something someone with 3D printing experience could possibly "upscale" the motor or would you have to do a lot of gutting to get a 24mm engine to fit?

I reserve the right to change my mind, but so far so good on this end. Not fully designed yet but I’d like keep it interchangeable back to 18mm. If you keep the internals as is, it hangs out about a 1/4” more and an RMS case definitely won’t fit. If you open up the inner plate there are more options but no going back to original. Maybe I’ll have to build one of each .

I like this so far. Don't want anything crazy but the model seems a bit heavy for 18mm. 24mm would offer better options like the D12 you got pictured. I wonder why Estes didn't go that route in the first place?

I think if the C11s were alive and well it would have been a much easier choice.

Who knows, I also haven’t tried to balance it yet. We could still find a very good reason why 18mm is a better choice...

Getting closer, fit is pretty good. Still haven't tried to balance with the D12.

It's built up as an assembly that is a drop in replacement for the original plate. The motor mount has a ring on the aft end that is glued to the motor tube. This ring sandwiches the fin can with the plate attached to the airframe. Without a retainer, the net weight gain is 2.1g plus motor, retainer & ballast. The Estes 24mm retainer is an extra 7.7g, Aero Pack is 6.4g, Masking tape is almost free.

If it ever stops raining here I'll try a C11 & D12 in it.

I have updated the 24mm mount that is out there with a bayonet style retainer. The original files were the wrong scale, that is fixed.
