Sanded and cleaned up some 8" tubing Sharon picked up a couple of days ago. We might be looking for some 6" bolted hardware soon.

Finally received some centering rings in the mail from Balsa Machining. Was able to start assembly of a 3" diameter, 55" tall Tartar type scratch I have been planning. Got the fin can assembled with some homemade fins my friend cut for me and did a dry fit. Now I am doing fillets and planning a shock cord system, need some kevlar, hardware, etc. 2003-124715.jpg 2003-125902.jpg 2003-124624.jpg

Bought a Powerball ticket to support my hobby!
Read a crap ton of parachute, reefing, and rigging docs on line.

Finally! After two years I’m fixing the zipper in my 4x upscale Alpha. Now I have to decide on a paint scheme. Should I go old school or get a 60th anniversary sticker and paint her like the Alpha VI?

I dunno, the classic paint scheme you have there is pretty.... classic. I don't think the 60th anniversary paint scheme is anything special, although if you could get really metallic with the nose and fin can it could be cool.

Put together a vid from last sunday's launches!
Very nice video. Thanks for taking the time to make and post. One thing here, I don't get why people are still bending over breaking their backs hooking up their rockets. Both clubs I fly with, their launch pads are set up at hip level. No bending over.I also have my own pads made so I don't have to bend over. So much easier.

If anybody needs a 38/720 casing on the kinda cheap and used side check the yard sale. I posted something.

Indeed! But you said the magic word - - CLUB! Club launchers can be built bigger & quite differently. Personally, as a "non-clubber" - I wanted mine small enough so that when I broke it down it could pack into/onto my motorcycle.

20190317_194017.jpg Working on a few different models right now. Started with rockets about two years ago and just got serious about making some models. Here's a peek at what I finally finished today. The black on the fins needs some work, but other than that I'm pretty happy about it. The image on the package shows another black line at the top of the fins but there was no decal for this included...

I just used a piece of black electrical tape cut to 3/32" wide for the black band above the fins.

Checked Eggtimer Quark parts against the packing list. Even got a few extras caps and resistors. Ordered a bare bones 15w Hakko soldering iron (IMG_20190322_111808.jpg about 2x the price of the kit). Got out some tools of the former trade to help with assembly. Next need to go shopping for some improved lighting.
