Glad to have you back, Richard!!! I was SOOOO excited to see Vic's email announcing the new field!

Very near the old Danville site for you nostalgia buffs! For the young'ins, the Danville spring and fall launches were some of the biggest events in early high power rocketry...probably second in line behind LDRS.

Looking forward to checking out the site in the near future!

If you can update this thread or let me know pretty please that would be great. I have a USLI team chomping at the bit to get a L rocket launched. ;)

Weather has forced another delay. Sigh.

We will try again on February 24th.

Anybody in a drought and needs some precipitation? Let us know and we will gladly schedule a launch. No charge. Sigh.

Watch the web site for news. https://www.indianarocketry.org/

Good News Everybody!

No Rain!

Which is good, because with the 50 knot winds rain drops would hurt.

Watch the web site.

Yes!!! Great work Indiana Rocketry. Can’t wait for the weather to break

650 Acres for sale on 231 just south of Crawfordsville for a second option lol

If at first you don't succeed, try try again!

March 10th. Open at 11am. Waiver to 14K feet MSL or 42,672,000,000,000 angstroms. :)

Was out there yesterday. Completely and utterly impressed with the sheer remote-ness of this launch site. Arrived early and decided, "I'll just drive past the field so I know where it is and then find the nearest gas station for snacks and gas."

20 minutes later I arrived at the nearest gas station.

First time in a long time I have stood on land that flat. I think I could see like 4 miles without being up on top of a hill.

Edit: So do you fellas have an on site vendor?

-Dave

I’m definitely going to support this group. Can’t wait to see you guys again. Can’t make this months launch, but will try my best to get out to see you all

I'm hoping to visit in May :)(can't make MMWP again this year:().

I got my intro to HPR at Danville.....waaaay back when. I'm going to have to attend some of those launches!

When I attend, if an overnight stay is involved...I'm staying in Danville...by the prison...in one of the hotels where the Redwood used to be. ...And I'm launching a class 1 rocket or two behind the hotel for nostalgia sake!:D

FRUSTRATING!

Forecast winds exceed 26kts by 9am. :(

We will try(again) March 17th.

Tsunami, Earthquake, Volcano, Plague. Pick one, I'm sure something will happen.

To answer some questions, Indiana Rocketry does not have a vendor. We invite all vendors who would like to show up.

The next scheduled launches are,
March 17th,
April 14th,
May 5th? Landowner states that they MIGHT be in the fields by then.

We are in discussion to adjust the schedule to work around the weather. Stay tuned.

That's OK, we can survive a volcano!

Finally a marginal weather launch. During a small break in the weather we did get a few launches in.

Including the Purdue University ULSI team, flying on a AT L1520 blue. (with fins)

April 14th is the next scheduled launch.

I haven't been participating on TRF much lately, but have to step up and say something here...

Went out last Sunday mostly to chat/cajole/laugh with the core Indiana Rocketry folks at their new launch site just north of Pence, Indiana. I have to say--one of the nicest sites in the Midwest!!! Heck one of the best sites I've been to, PERIOD. Kudos to Richard Cash, Randy Milliken, Vic Barlow, Curtis Reynolds, et.al., in finding this site, securing it and building a fabulous relationship with the landowner(s). Best I can tell via satellite they have nearly 30 square miles (~20,000 acres) of flat, uninhabited land with only barns, grain bins, and sparse rows of trees here and there (all dry too, no water landings). If you want to go beyond that, and ignore a couple of farmhouses and two tiny towns, then it is quadruple that area. On the site they have three launch locations which they can trade off based on wind, ground moisture, parking needs, etc. Hey, I don't want to get ahead of the-powers-that-be, but could this be the next HOT rocketry destination you need to put on your collective calendars?? :p

It's on my radar! And happy to see you emerge from the cave, Tim!!!

I heard rumors of a possible June launch. I'm hoping it happens, and jives with my schedule; I'd love to get down there to try out the new site!
