Can you 2 stage a cluster rocket? Cluster to cluster or maybe a cluster to single motor ? BP Motors

Yes and it's quite fun. I have a 3x 24mm direct staged to 3x 24mm rocket. It was a kit but I forget if it was a LOC kit or a USR kit. I used 3x E12-0 staged to 3x E12-8 on it's last (but not final) flight and it was awesome.

Indeed! Mine is the Hi-Test2225. Great kit and lots of fun. I've used it with D12-D12, D12-E9 (had some E9s I needed to burn) and E12-E12

Cluster ignition is the hardest part. I solder 1 foot extension wires to my Estes igniters for clusters but I've also used "flash-in-the-pan", e-matches and home-made igniters. Once you have the cluster ignition process down, the staging kinda takes care of itself.

Ive done some clusters.Tape the tops of motors or throw some wadding or barf in them,ect. I use a ? big box ? 12 volt igniter system . For some strange reason I could not recall ever seeing a staged cluster.Its been awhile since I flew any rockets. I have a scratch rocket Im working on. Maybe Ill post it.

Cluster to single engine works
Clustered boosters tend to be on the heavy side, may not tumble well.
Using one of the booster cluster engines with a short delay (say A8-3) can be used to deploy a chute

THAT is COOL!

Does booster have a recovery device? Seems like a lot of mass for tumble recovery.

It is a little heavy, but it just tumbles down. It had flown 4 times without a problem, but the booster finally broke a fin in January. I suspect the frozen ground did it in. Regardless, I'm going to glue it back on and keep flying it.

Funny that some on the forum seemed to think motor eject with “D” engine casings was unreasonable.....
Did you need any nose weight, or is The Recker so long a rocket it is already a bit overstable?

Did you need any nose weight, or is The Recker so long a rocket it is already a bit overstable?

The rocket is stable without any added nose weight. It's over 7 ft long. A warning though the 6x 24mm motors moves it into high power.

Here is a video of the Richter Recker flying on 3x D12-0 to 3x E9-6. The 3E12-0 to E12-6 is a bit sportier!
