Jolly Logic Altimeter 2 and how to deploy

Greetings,
I purchased an Altimeter 2 from Jolly Logic. Looks like a great unit. I also purchased a mount for it, but this won't fit very easily into the payload section of my LOC/Precision HyperLoc 163. I believe this tube is 38mm in diameter. What do I do to safely carry the altimeter along for the ride? Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Tether it to your nosecone loop. It'll hang straight down during boost (the important part) and then be flopping around like the rest of the rocket upon ejection.

It will be safe during all of this? It must be pretty tough!

So far I've successful in not coming in ballistic . . . but there's always a first!

I did manage to annihilate an Altimeter One. I had it tied off to the chute kwik link on my PML Striker. When ejection fired, it got caught between the piston and the NC shock cord anchor. The effect was similar to a blacksmith's hammer and anvil. I replaced it with an Altimeter Two which I like better. I still need to figure out a way to mount the altimeter in the Striker without it getting pulverized.

I use it with my JL III and attached to the nose cone or shock cord.

The protectors are great, but almost anything you do to protect them will work, including a baby sock or a piece of fabric or a paper towel. Nothing you wrap around it will block pressure waves (just don't put it in a hard container without holes, like a film canister).

Baby sock - great idea! I did purchase a protector for both the Alt 2 and JLCR . . . although looking at the build quality I might be 'overprotective'. Saw your presentation on electronic deployment - very interesting . . . got me thinking about all sorts of crazy ideas. Will be using your JLCR for the first time this weekend on my new LOC/P Hyperloc . . . watched the video on chute preparation - nicely done! Wish me luck on my first attempt at dual-deploy . . .

I purchased them as well . . . one for each Alt 2 and JLCR. Looking at the devices build quality, I might be overprotective . . . but I certainly want to use it more than once!

You'll be fine. My Alt2 has about 30 flights, Alt3 has about 20 flights, and JLCR about 20 flights. None of them had any extra protection, and all three still work fine.

Your protection measures will make a robust product last even longer.
