Two beautiful blue Rouse-Tech 38/240 cases with huge variations in markings.
Never expected to have one with a typo.
Does the one without the logo even come close?
From top to bottom, the size, material and threads are exactly the same.
Any reason to doubt their integrity or provenance?

Were they produced many years apart? I have a newer Aerotech 29/40-120 case and another I just bought on eBay that had been lying in the sealed bag, unopened for "many years". Very different markings, but physically the same.

Good question. The case on the right is blank where the SN and date would normally appear...

One of my 29mm cases looks like your case on the right. The anno is slightly dustier and not as polished as the rest. I didn't like it so I bought another, looks the same. I guess it's just product variances over different production runs. I'd fly, that case like you stole it.

Given the size of the rocketry market I would be amazed if there were black market counterfeit cases in the wild.
I own two different unlicensed flavors of 29mm hardware.

But you're right in that I've never seen one of the clones try to fully imitate the actuals.

There are lots of black market AT cases, some are known manufacture like LOC others are of mysterious origin.

They both are fake. Send them to me for proper disposal.

Seriously. I have cases with both types of lettering shown. They are made from different runs. I believe the one on the right was produced later than one on left.

Somehow over the years I have ended up with some clone 29mm cases, but whoever manufactured them did not try to pass them off as counterfeit as they are not even anodized let alone stenciled. I believe this is just a case of differences in manufacturing runs.

Gary R was putting together a I54 for me, he gave me crap because it was a black market case I handed him.
We got a bunch of them in the 90’s cheap, like 98mm $25 for an end closure and 30-40 for a tube. At one time I had a dozen 38 mm full sets.
I recently got a bunch of hardware made by LOC from someone getting out of the hobby.

I have a gold Rouse Tech case that just says 29/120, but is clearly a 29/40-120... I found a 54/1280 case at Wildman's that is etched 54/852. I told Tim that it would be my solemn duty as his friend and fellow enthusiast to dispose of this miss marked case to avoid contamination in the wild...
Funny, he didn't seem to think so... I'm not sure why...:rolleyes:

Those are both made buy rouse tech, His original ones had the gorilla on them, he also had gold ones .

I do not think this is a knockoff, but with as much trouble as it is to get some cases recently, I am surprised more knockoffs are being made.

Looks like a LOC. The look like a color mismatched AT set, I think the red is slightly different from real AT.
There are also cases with a high polish finish.

Exactly Mark. The black is not the same. Chuck , yes it looks like a older case with the label peeled , but it is not . The red is also more Macintosh red then a cherry red AT uses . Also I paid 35 dollars for it lol

There are plenty of counterfeit AT hardware sets out there.

A point, if you will: if someone sells me some threaded tube, that doesn't make it a counterfeit. I have plenty such for research work.
